NOTTINGHAM FOREST are targeting a January move for Sunderland striker Connor Wickham. The England Under-21 striker has netted five goals in seven games for Sheffield Wednesday since joining the Owls on loan in November. That form has not gone unnoticed, with Wednesday’s Championship rivals Forest ready to make a move for Wickham when his loan at Hillsborough expires on January 1. Reports in the Midlands today have suggested Forest are preparing a loan move, with a view to a permanent deal, for the England Under-21 striker. While Wednesday are unlikely to have the financial resources to tempt Sunderland into selling a player who cost £8million in the summer of 2011, Forest are one of the few Championship clubs with deep pockets, thanks to the backing of owner Fawaz Al Hasawi. There were reports earlier this month that Sunderland are willing to part company with Wickham in the January transfer window. But Poyet told the Echo last week that Wickham’s future will not be decided until he returns to Wearside after the end of his loan. Poyet said: “We haven’t even talked about that (a permanent departure). He needs to play and after he gets back from loan, we will talk with him as well.”
By Tott Dixon - Seaham Updated Thursday, 19th December 2013 Views: 1159 Sunderland RSS Feed Sunderland are one of a number of Premier League clubs tracking Nottingham Forest youngster Jamaal Lascelles. Spurs and Aston Villa have been watching the 20-year-old over recent weeks after his promotion into the Forest first-team. The England Under-20 international central defender has made nine appearances for Forest this season. If Sunderland made a move for Lascelles, he would not be an immediate option in the Premier League for Gus Poyet ... AND he could be beyond Poyet's budget. Arsenal saw a £5million offer rejected for the then 17-year-old in 2011 when a number of the Premier League’s heavyweights, including Tottenham and Liverpool were keeping a close eye on him. That £5m could be spent on a couple of experienced players needed for Premiership survival.. That's what I was trying to do
