With that handshake today the British have bowed the knee to the Irish Republican army. They fought a good fight but were beaten by a better team in the end.

God love you Lizzie you handled it well.<ok>

@ Med dog, your job seekers allowance will be paid in euros shortly. <ok>

    I have to disagree

Not only did she travel into enemy territory, wear green, honour her enemies fallen, treat mcguinness as an equal.... she shut down rangers.....so you see.....oh.....wait a minute....you might be right

GOod to see the Queen greeting a subject with a shake of the hand. She should have made the **** bow.

Fair play to Marty. Can't have been easy for all his life's work to lead up to shaking Elizabeth's hand. No higher honour for a Brit like him.

Should've made the **** get on his knees.

That's the thing about Londonderry taigs. They give up wild easy. Wasn't it Hume said "That's it a united ireland or nothing"

    Guess what he got <laugh>

Speaking as a neutral, it looks like the Queen has all but accepted a united republic of ireland

    Knelt to their fallen soldiers
Traveled to her enemy to shake his hand
    Wore his colours

I sense some republicans are angry that they aren't finishing her off when they have the chance....but mcguinness realised that this would be an act her majesty would have carried out had the shoe been on the other foot....and decided against it

    That's dignity

To be serious, for once, it's another step in the right direction.

    Well done to all.

Most of us just want to get along and be happy.

**** me, I'm away for a lie down.

    You could be right

But in the manner in which the queen approached this, it looks to be the complete opposite

Normally you would go to the queen to pledge fealty....not the other way around

    Game Of Thrones style

The people in ROI love the Queen more than Sinn Fein, just look at the crowds that turned out for her in Dublin last year, more people that vote for Sinn Fein in the ROI.

Does Gerry Adams still speak with a actors voice?
