Saylor and Cabella. One injury prone, one just not right for this league and we need better.

    For me..

    Haris
    Marv
    Manu
    Gouff
    Obertan
    Willo

We probably need to give lads like Roberts a run out on loan too.

We now Add Gini and Mitro to the above and Mbemba and I reckon a full back, CB, Striker and Winger will make me happy... although this is more likely to happen over the next couple of windows.

I think Cabella needs a second season.. or at least until Xmas to show if he can step up in the all important second year.

Willo, Saylor, Haidara, Obertan, Vuckic, Marveaux, Gouffran, Riviere.

Replace with Mitrovic, Mbemba, 2 New CB, New ST, New CM, New AM

Jobs a goodun. That is over 2 windows though.

    This window I'd like

    Out: Willo, Marveaux, Vuckic, Goufran
In: 1 CB, 1 ST, 1 AM plus Mitrovic and Mbemba

Add in a new left back at some stage and I agree.

Indeed, I think Mbemba can play there. If we take him as a CB, then maybe add only one centre back and a left back.

I'm definitely not going to give up on cabella. Ye's he's lightweight. So are many players that have had success in this league. Everyone on our team was aweful last season apart from janmaat and maybe cisse. I think we need to move on:
    Elliot
    Willo
    Anita
    Vuckic
    Marv
    Gouff
    Riviere

    Ins:
    Mbemba
    A young RB to cover
RM/RW with pace (would take bakary sako tbh)

I really don't want another big name striker. If mitrovic can get goals, then we have him and cisse. I just don't want to see Ayoze's playing time get hindered because he really has potential and he's ready to contribute now. Same with Aarons and buying too many forwards.

Likely we will adopt different formations, and likely one of them will be a 433. Perez and Aarons are tailor made for wide roles off a Mitrovic or Austin. I want another striker personally, goals win games. Mitrovic will need time, he is only 20. He has already struggled at international level a bit.I want a front 4 to choose from for once - MItrovic, Austin, Cisse and Perez is fine by me. Arma can go out on loan.

    2 defenders next though. ASAP.

So who would be in your 25 man squad for next season?

Also how are we doing on the old home-grown front. I'm never 100% sure who qualifies as home-grown.

Don't forget we have already got rid of Jonas, Santon and Raylor.
If we can't sell any of the others then I'd like to loan then out to get them in the shop window.

Basically, all of the cheap ****ty French players [bar Sissoko] need to go. So the likes of Gouffran, Obertan, Riviere, Marveaux need to do one. Cabella, I would give him a second season. Doesn't set the world alight then get rid. Williamson, Saylor and Coloccini need to go. Dummett is a decent squad player so he is spared. Cisse - either injured or suspended these days and almost the wrong side of 30. Get rid. Elliott - Pardew's signing and absolute dogshit. Vuckic - never fulfilled his potential and painfully slow. Shane Ferguson - not good enough.

    I'd lose

    Willo
    Taylor
    Vuckic
Gouffran (could possibly fit into the last category)

    and possibles if replaced....

Elliot (he's a better 3rd choice than a kid like last season)
    Colo
    Haidara

Depending on whether SM feels he can use them better than AP did....

    Marv
Obertan (I thought he was decent at the start of last season when used properly)

I think it would be a waste to give up on Cabella and Riviere after one season. Let's see what a change of coaching can produce before blowing the money we spent.

Massively agree on Cabella. There is something there to make it worthwhile. It may never bear fruit but I'd be willing to give it 6 months.

Massively disagree on Riviere. There is nothing there except his comedy hair. Useless. Doesn't look like a footballer. The ball looks a foreign object to him. Couldn't score in at JPF's mams house. I'm all for patience, but sometimes you just have to accept you've dropped a clanger. If we sell him now, you might get 3m back from France as they may just put it down to him not suiting the league, not settling, not getting enough chances. If we continue to let him show off his "talent", then he'll quickly become difficult to give away. I'll say it openly, I think Shola was more a goal threat than this ****er.

You could well be (probably are in fact) right. I just feel that there must have been something there for GC to recommend him - unless he was a 3rd/4th choice punt by GC that we only got cos we couldn't get any 1st or 2nd choice options. Only GC will know which category he fits into though.

Watch Cabella link up with Wijnaldum and have a ridiculous season. Then in 12 months we'll be hoping that we keep him.

I think you have probably hit the nail on the head. I'm fairly critical of the whole GC love in. I think we've signed more duds than anything else. All of sudden this summer though, money is pumped about and we are signing the likes of Gini and Mitrovic - class acts with stellar pedigree. Both may not work for all we know, there are no guarantees, but certainly in terms of quality they are the right sort. He is clearly another hamstrung by the regime.

6m sounds a decent chunk but in striker terms its not that much.I reckon he'd have been at the bottom end of his suggestions. That he was suggested at all is a problem though. I just like to look at a player and think "he is a proper footballer". Players have different characteristics, some are quick like Bellendo or Dyer, some have grace like Cabaye, some a combo of it all like Shearer. They all have one common skillset though, they give the impression they are doing what they are meant to be doing. I watch Riviere and he just doesn't convince me at all. Its like a Nyron Nosworthy or Carlton Palmer - you think "are they any better than the lads you play with on a Sunday?

I think GC is a decent scout. Its very easy to overdo what he has done, but equally it is easy to ignore the limitations placed on who he could recommend we chase. We could see a big improvement in how his players get on now that we seem to have moved up a notch (or three).
