Now then lads..

Haven't been around for a while, family issues as usual. I sort of pointed Syd and a few others over to here on the news of the BBC 606 shutdown and just wondered how you are finding your new home? Personally, I think it is a cracking site and for Mick, his timing was brilliant.

Been reading a few articles and as usual the Safc banter is up to its very best. We are like a sort of family us cyber noneties, some disappear and re-appear, some are always here and some should constantly disappear. Nice to see a few names I remember but as always we need to remember..

Ups & downs Syd, Ellas a grand one but Lorraine's problems are here to stay. Operations too risky for her so she has a life of being totally immobile to look forward too. We are all counting our pennies and hoping maybe a solution somewhere else in the world may be the answer..
 
bad news Joe, sorry to hear that, life can be a right bitch at times. Give them both a kiss from their uncle Syd and mate and you take care of Joe.
 
Sorry to read that news Joe, I hope there is a solution to be found and that you can come through this bout, my thoughts are with you in these trying times, and hope there can be better times ahead for your family.

I'm sure I speak for the vast majotity on here when I say that our thoughts and hopes go out to you and your family over the problems that Lorraine is facing.
My second son suffered from Menigitis when he was one, and we almost lost him. It left him with problems with his legs which have required constant treatment, and the doctor's told me that he will always struggle with running related sports. However, he is now ten years old and has ran cross country for the harriers and plays football for his school team and Hetton Lyons. So the point I'm making is that the doctors don't know everything and there is always hope...

That is our plan to look overseas for Lorraine. Just to put you and others in the picture, Lorraine developed problems after giving birth to Ella in her left hip. As you know, she is Cerebal Palsy and did the unexpected in carrying Ella full term without problems. In March of last year her doctors removed her left hip as it was riddled with arthritis. In her recovery her leg locked into a V-shape due to a cerebal reaction to the pain. It has been like that since. Lorraine has no movement and is totally reliable on me 15/7. Ella is also but with our care package I do get a lot of assisted help within the 9-5 paramater. The only op available to Lorraine is to cut the tendons, remove and strip bone from the hip to the knee to allow the leg to flop. As an operation it's big as big can be and carries major risks and has only ever been performed on developing children before and not adults. We are looking much farther afield to areas of cerebal palsy specialists who may have encountered similar cases to lorraines. All areas of advice is welcome and it is my mission to give this lass her life back. She is a beautiful person inside and out and after giving birth to the beautiful one, she has the right to hold her and cuddle her. So far that has not happened..
 
All of a sudden Joe last weeks performance seems very unimportant. Wish I could do something to help, times like this I feel very, very usless.
 
I have merged this with a thread written by an old 606 mate of ours, Vinigar Joe, I hope he does not mind.

We cant do a lot to help Joe and his family but we can let him know we care.
 
Syd, you will never be useless. Our situation is unique and I'm sure in there somewhere a doctor, consultant or health authority could be sued but thats not my style. I look after my own and we will get there. Coming back onto the site tonight and having the responses from people who I rate as fine men among the world has made me smile. You are a great bunch and especially to MrRAW a man with a great memory :emoticon-0100-smile Nice to know you lads are here..
 
Good to see you back Joe even if the news you bring us isn't so good. Still I hope you can find someone who can help Lorraine with her problem. I am sure if anyone here hears about someone they are certain to let you know.
 
Sorry about your probs Joe can't fathom how hard it is for you and your lass at present one grain of hope Ella is A okay and, I'm sure with the Doctors we have these days you can find someone to do the op for your lass. Do you know how much any treatment costs? sure some of us who are mobile can do a sponsored whatever to help, christ I sponsor enough at work for everything else so why not a proper cause. They are all barcodes at work but good decent lads, all the best mate keep us informed let us know how we can help it's a Sunderland thing.
 
Many thanks Talc but with lolly we need to sit down and get a grasp of where we go from here. Ella is 17 months and I dont think we need the last year repeated from Lorraines point of view. We have no time frame, mammy cannot move without assistance and Ella as young as she is knows that. Lorraine sank to 6stone last autumn but my cuisine and determination has got her back to 9stone. We dont know all of the answers or when to say yeah, lets do whatever. We do know that Lolly can have an op that's risky in the extent of severe blood loss and infection that can lose this 'V' leg and get her sitting again with a floppy leg but as her partner and a man that loves her immensely, I do not know yet if it is worth the risk of losing or causing more pain to simply the most wonderful woman alive..

If only love was more simple..
 
Fair enough mate I know where you are coming from but, you've got to try something if only checking up on treatments tough decisions for both of you to make Joe. Our lasses brother has had both hips replaced in the early 70s one of them twice (about 1980) he gets around on sticks it hurts like hell sometimes you can tell by his face but, he's glad he had them done. Different scenario to the one you two have but, believe in the quacks they know the score the ones he had were brilliant.
The sponsorship thing will be easy to sort sure syd or one of our mods has access to email addresses etc. Nothing is ever simple mate look at who we support.

As a relative newbie to this site may I simply add my best wishes to those already posted by the more familiar lads.

You seem to be a very strong willed character and I have no doubt you will carefully consider what changes are feasible to improve life for all your family. KTF
 
Joe and Talc, anything I can do I will to help. For the people who dont know Joe he is an old rebel from 606, many user names because he was always getting banned, a hard man but a very, very nice man, salt of the earth die hard Sunderland fanatic.
After some hard years he met his lady then became a dad again, life had turned good then this. He will probably deck me for being mushy but it just pissess me off when the good guys get a kicking like this.
