He will have been told thst will not wash at all and the away fans are the most loyal and the ones he must win over. You only need a quick wave and clap. It's really important to.learn this quick and why.employ 2 English coaches and not have this very obvious requirement talked about. If he repeats that at anfield it will not go down well at all.
Not sure about the applause for the fans, that should be a given no matter who you are - maybe we’ve missed something. But on the hugs and all jazz, it was fairly unique to Klopp - not a lot of other coaches embrace the way he did. You want a cuddle then get it at home off the wife and kids
Obviously anyone coming in wouldn't be as huggy as Klopp, because, let's face it, Klopp is the king of hugs. It just stands out how opposite Slot is in that respect, he barely acknowledges the players exist... Obviously a different philosophy "I am their manager, not their friend". Not a criticism, both approaches have their merits and demerits... Just interesting that we went from one extreme of the spectrum to the other... No clue how it will pan out, so far Slot 1/1, so so far, so good... Can't help but believe some of the players will feel jarred by the transition in the short term
Yeah definitely a big change, maybe he opens up more when he knows who he can trust etc, not sure how he was at his old club
The fist Bumps didnt start for a long time with klopp. Thst was a special relationship with crowds at winning finals and became a thing. Klopp tried to stop it even Acknowledging the crowd who pay your wages isn't good manners is a basic requirement so if they don't take to you then you won't last long. Even rafa one of the most scientific and straight jacket type managers was adored by the anfield crowd. It helps when you land a cl win in the biggest fluke/run of all time. But rafa connected in his way to anfield and worked the crowd. If slot thinks he can do this job without the anfield crowd he's got a ****ing shock.coming. Look at the disaster klopp had v atlanta after taking it for granted and playing a weak team right when a no flag protest was happening. Thst was the worst anfield European crowd I've heard in many many years. Even bore draws v real to secure the win were not that bad If slot wants make the mistake of taking the believers and turn them into mere cash cows then fire away but it'll end in tears.
Yeh, Rafa was a bit of a cold fish in terms of not being touchy feely but he knew how to connect with the fans. A simple rotating wave is all that's needed at home and a 'salute in the direction" away. Anyway, it was the first game and an away at that, maybe the team bus was on a double yellow and they needed to be off, sharpish. Slot has a lot of leeway with the fans at present. Let's keep it that way.
Personally I think people have gone a bit too early with this. I'll contentedly wait to see how he conducts himself in a match at Anfield before judging.
Yeah my mind is wide open on him still... And even if he does turn out to be an emotionless machine, I'll be ok if he wins things and tries his best.
Three games. Three wins. Three clean sheets. Three goals against our "rival". Tactically he's doing alright. We haven't faced any teams that will be finishing top 4 yet. Let's see if he can do as well against them. Besides United on a poor night, we haven't played anyone who is expected to finish top ten yet.
I certainly didnt mean it as negative. We've done great so far... Just too early to tell if we're title contender good, or European contender good under Slot.
