Luton midfielder Jake Howells has signed a new three-year deal with the Hatters. The out-of-contract 21-year-old was understood to have been offered terms by the Blues but instead has opted to remain with with the Blue Square Bet Premier side.

So we offer him a contract and he turns us down and decides to stay at Luton, there is something soooo bloody wrong at Portman Road its unreal, still no doubt some on here will say there is no problem and we had a lucky escape!! The thing is, its not whether the player is any good its the fact that we couldn't attract an alcoholic to a brewery or a budgie to a family reunion!!

I still have zero faith in Clegg and Jewell and am fearing this season.

maybe the offer was insulting, maybe he has signed for Luton so they get some money, or maybe the whole story is made up because everyone's on holiday at the moment so there's nothing to write.

Maybe we did make an offer as reported and maybe he realised what a pair of useless twats Jewell and Clegg are!! Maybe he has noticed that players have been avoiding us lately and joining our rivals and maybe he thought '**** that i'm better off with Luton than joining that particular sinking ship'

Lancs the thing is, TWTD never said it was a rumour/link they said they were 'lead to believe' and when they say that it is pretty reliable. Howells himself has apparently said he new nothing about it yet phil Ham seems pretty damn sure!!

    WCP

Don't be such a piss taking knob jockey, maybe he just doesn't want to talk about it. Wouldn't be the first player to lie about transfer dealings!!!!

I wonder whats going on with that Cheick Kourouma fella, thought he was set to sign, maybe he too thought better of it.

WCP you can mock all you like and you may be happy with the clowns that are running our football club into the ground but i for one am not happy, Pearce - Leeds, Ward - Palace, Kouzsczak - Brighton, Jacobs - Derby, to name but a few. All these players choose other championship clubs over us and to be honest i can't see things changing.
We will end up signing over the hill players like Fuller (sorry but don't rate him) and panic buying a couple of CB's but hey, you just keep mocking peoples concerns!!

Luke Chambers, Scott Loach & Sam Baldock have all been linked and will all be signing by the end of next week!

Too be honest i don't really care if your not happy it means nothing to me, your opinions are of no interest to me.

Your childish homophobic name calling shows you for what you are and i think i speak for everyone involved with the Club that your kind of support is not wanted so why don't you pick up your straw donkey and sombrero and take your brand of support somewhere else.

Gotta see how we are on the pitch next season, transfer speculation means absolutely diddly squat.

Ah WCP obviously the voice of ITFC, if my opinions are of no interest to you then why post on MY thread?? I shall now put away my straw donkey, hang up my sombrero and go sit by my pool with a nice ice cold beer, while knowing that i care about ITFC unlike some head in the sand fans!!

To be honest this sounds very worrying, but there could be one of a hundred reasons for him not signing for us- maybe we didn't want him. However, I'm personally going to reserve judgement until the season starts before criticizing the club. Also Spanish, it's not fair to say that you care about the club more than other fans, maybe other fans are more tolerant than you, doesn't mean they care any less than you.

Regarding Cheick Kourouma, I'm pretty certain that TWTD reported that he's going to sign towards the end of July

If and its a big IF we did offer him a deal it was probably alot like the Cresswell deal so if he came and proved himself his deal would of been reviewed rather than just put him straight onto big wages without knowing if he could make the step up.

I think he has shown he not the Hungry type of player we are after so i'm not bothered.

Spanish didn't seem to care quite so much when his head was in the sand when Keane was here. I clearly cared so much more about the club when he that clown was in charge than you ever were.

But seriously I've heard that we didn't make an offer for him. We do need to start getting some players in pretty soon though, but July & August are much busier months than June, there hasn't been a great deal of activity tbh so for the moment I am not overly concerned. Further to this we've been crap for a few years now and we have to rebuild our reputation, this isn't going to happen over night.

Very true, most teams haven't signed many players yet, so there's no need to panic. I also think Keane left us in a much bigger mess than we realized at the time.

Bleakers, don't you think that its time to stop blaming Keane for our current mess or are you another who can see no wrong in Jewell. Roy has been gone a long while now and last season was Jewells team, did Roy ask Jewell to sign the likes of Ellington and Bowyer while avoiding the required CB's and GK's that were needed? Erm i think not!!
I agree that there is still time to sign the necessary players but my concerns are that it seems like players keep opting for other clubs of similar or less stature rather than signing for us!! Surely some of you on here can see that there is something wrong or maybe not, maybe the paella and rioja has addled my brain!!

I have only seen this story appear on one site which is normally full of ****e and claims to have seen everyone from the pope to maradonna signing for us on Transfer deadline day. As far as I know it has not hit 1 site which is reported by journalists rather than a forum like this - correct me if Im wrong.
We know we have missed out on Pearce & Ward but the others have been somewhere between speculation and players we have enquired about which is a big difference from our club has failed to wrestle players from the blind schools 3rd 11 which is some of the furore on fan sites. You read bbc gossip pages or sky sports transfer centre any each of the big clubs will be 'signing' 200 players each window yet we all know it doesnt happen.
We know we need additions, we know that these signings are going to have a big impact on next season as it was clear last season that we had major failings but we have time, a budget (hopefully) and targets in mind. If we miss out on a key area of the pitch due to board level failings then angst like this thread will be understood but possibly missing out on a unheard off from Luton would suggest to me that a reality check is needed, or more likely considering we all know Spanishs feelings about the clubs hierarchy that is just feeling a general frustration and malaise rather than that he actually feels strongly about this transfer.
