I've never felt any other way than Howe is a stepping stone coach. He has done better than expected But I still don't think we are going to be winning cups with him
Howe will level out and be a good solid manager. But he isn’t elite. Which means if the owners really want to take us to the next level he will have to go. Sad fact of life. But he’s limited there is no doubt about it. This friendly favourite atmosphere he has built was fine when we needed to move out of the bottom 4 but at the highest level managers have to be ruthless. There is no space for friends.
Newcastle will be successful (if the investment continues). Howe could win a pot but I think the league form is his worry currently and while I like him I think he is in bigger trouble than most think.... Dropped points vs teams we've played twice: City - 6 Liverpool - 6 Bournemouth - 5 Luton - 5 Forest - 3 Villa - 0 That's 25 points from 36 available dropped from the 6 teams we've played twice so far... Now weirdly if you compare it to the first half of the season we are actually 5 points up on the first round of fixtures of those above but I think results need to improve quickly. Arsenal and Blackburn could be crunch games for him - lose both and that could be the writing on the wall for Wor Eddie. Other points dropped vs teams we still have to play. Brighton 3* Spurs - 3* Everton - 3* Wolves - 2* West Ham 2*
We're becoming a Bruce side, everybody wants to play us because we're so utterly predictable. No DM, slow midfield, easy to play through - we've got Odegaard to content with next. No LB, even slower than our midfield, easy to target - Saka up next. RW is almost to be ignored, it's so fruitless. Gordon will drift wide so CB's can easily stay switched on. All the attacks will try and use inverted wingers, nothing comes through the middle. We're just bereft of ideas. It happens, particularly with good - if limited - coaches/managers. Howe's never winning anything here, he doesn't have the stature, mentality or ability. When he goes, he's not going to a top 6 club, nor would Brighton, Villa, Brentford, etc., take him on. If he's lucky he could replace Moyes.
This might be controversial but I think Howe needs to get to the end of the season and the. We judge the situation then. It’s been a tough season. He gave us champions league football and that crippled us. Signings have been poor as stated. Injuries have been shocking whether he contributed to that or not. The guy is making mistakes don’t get me wrong but let’s judge him at the end of the season. He deserves that chance.
That all depends on how he performs for the remainder of the season. It’s a results business. We are getting players back. We could go on a mega run.
I would say it'll depend on who's brought in also..I mean whoever comes in might make demands and Howe might not like them.... in time I would anticipate Howe being replaced regardless... he's a small fry operator. The club is now at a crossroads because of this ****house rat ashworth.
That’s possibly true and for all we know maybe Ashworth didn’t like Howe? Ashworth was DoF so his role was more important and yet he seemed to just let Howe do whatever he wanted. The next DoF needs to be a strong one. And Howe needs to work with him.
I don't think Howe will have liked Ashworth coming in anyways and I doubt Ashworth liked being given advice from Howes nephew. Ashworth and Howe will be gone soon enough though because at some point the owners will need to move onto a higher level of operating. Howe has now demonstrated that he isn't cut out for European football and just doesn't have the experience or profile required.
Think it’s more about how much we can spend rather than who is the manager. Actually think Howe is one of the best of the young managers working across Europe at the moment. I would like to see how he does next season with a hopefully fit and bigger squad.
He deserves that opportunity as things stand but it's not beyond the rhelms of possibility he doesn't make it that far. If Newcastle lose the next 2 or 3 games things will change dramatically .. if we end up bottom half that's doing no better than Steve Bruce having had far more £££.
