Just taking in the news events of the day and just found that Howard Marks has died, Gutted.

Very intelligent and cultured man who lived the dream. Lived and died by the sword. If anybody hasn't read Mr Nice I strongly recommend it. You don't need to be a dope smoker to appreciate it.

This will go under the radar purely because he smoked a lot of weed and most people look down on that. But he was a very interesting and charismatic bloke who lived a full and varied life. To put it mildly.

    RIP.

He was always one of my picks for a celebrity dinner party. Would have loved to have welcomed him into my home and entertained him. Real people person.

Aye you'd have had a good laugh that's for sure. Him and a younger Hunter S. Thompson before he got old and moody would have been a mad combo. I wonder if they knew each other.

Don't know if I could handle a Young Hunter Thompson like<laugh>, especially if he turned up with Oscar Acosta. Maybe when I was younger.

I read Mr Nice and the only thing bigger than my liking for Howard Marks was my dislike of American "justice" agencies...

Insane isn't it. Prisoner transport thing is ridiculous. Pure mental abuse.

You know the yanks have a "three strikes and you're out" rule, whereby on your third conviction for a felony you get a mandatory life sentence with a minimum of 25 years? There's people in the US doing a 25-stretch for stealing cookies!

It's a canny big read, needs a lot of block time to get the best out of it, if you're busy it loses it's flow like all books.
