Now that the decision has been made to modify and update Ashton Gate I wonder how it will impact the upcoming season in the comforts offered to supporters?

Watching the sadness of having to watch televised matches at stadiums undergoing renovations has made me ask what you the paying supporters expect to be the biggest, and most annoying, impact on your visits to Ashton Gate? Already I have heard rumblings about, despite being assured, that the seat selections are going to be accommodated but then I hear some supporters will not get their first choice of seating area. Am I right in thinking that both ends of the Dolman will be closed for the duration and that some supporters have to move despite already getting their season tickets?

During the renovations how is the capacity impacted and what sections will be closed for the greatest length of time, presumably the Eastend. When will the renovations be totally completed and I also would like to know what is so special about the new style turf, and please tell me that it isn't synthetic.

What's up with the script on this site when you can't make minor changes after you make a mistake but rather have to delete everything back to the spot where you erred. Or is it just me?

We'll probably get a big side in the FA cup, season ticket holders won't get a seat and instead some glory supporting ****er will be there instead.

Capacity around 14,000, lots of seat changes for the coming season and closures of the Dolman wing blocks.

And another upheaval again at the start of 2015-16 if the new Wedlock and updated Dolman are finished. If they are then all Williams stand get moved out for a season.

How will it affect the team? It should not, but it might be initially strange for them at the Wedlock end without any noise from there.

The pitch has been raised over 12 inches 30cm from it's previous level. Undersoil heating has been incorporated and the Desso treatment is the insertion of polypropylene fibre vertically into the pitch at 20cm in depth and 2cm apart in all directions. The grass roots intertwine with the polypropylene and thus even if the grass gets kicked off, the roots stay where they are and regenerate new growth throughout the season, with the help of the undersoil heating.
This pitch system has already been installed at Wembley, Swansea City, Reading and quite a lot of Premier clubs.

Its unfortunate that in a season that we'll hopefully do well in, the ground is losing 25% capacity.

But if we struggle again there'll be loads of vacant seats !

There are 7k-ish season ticket holders so if we draw someone big in the cup they will be ok.

If City are near the top then home games could end up selling out

It is unfortunate but necessary. It had to happen as we need to bring our old stadium up to date, so it is a pointless moan and a pointless thread.

I'm sure it will all have been worth it in the end.
But if you want to blame someone, try the tossers who stopped us getting a quality stadium across the road

Perfectly put Rickster.....no other way possible after the dog walkers put a stop to the new stadium, the upheaval will be worth it.

Cramp in the knees this season - Williams.

A bit uneasy by the obvious BS imagery appearing around the ground on show sunday. It is still overwhelmingly red down there.

I know the entire financial scenario has changed since the days of our Wembley play-off final but if we are looking at a max capacity of 14,00 how can we expect to balance the books?

During those heady days we were pulling in crowds in the 18-19,000 range and we lost a shed load of money and although the wage bill has probably been trimmed to reflect our league status I fear for the year end report. All of you closer to the source have a much better idea than myself over here, so how do you see the financial stability issue working out this season?

Doug Harman said, I think at the last AGM, that the club's playing squad wage bill last season was down to 40% of turnover which is 20% under the SCMP financial regulations. Last seasons average was around 11,500 so if we do well and get full houses, we should not have a problem. Anyway should the losses continue, SL will buy some more shares to cover it until the rebuild is complete and we get some more success on the pitch.
The squad we have at the moment, while mainly consisting of under 26's, appears at the moment to be one full of promise. I doubt there will be any more additions, except a goalkeeper, before the window closes at end of August, but there could be one or two loans coming in.

A goally yes, and maybe also an extra striker.
Nothing wrong with having 4, and only 1 is currently a proven goalscorer (counting JET as a midfield player).
The beauty of right now is that Cotts has Lansdown's confidence (justifiably) so if a good player comes along and Cotts can get him for a good price, maybe SL will chip in.
It is to last a while (at least a couple of years), and Cotterill has proved he has a good eye for a player.
And when its for a move forwards for Bristol City then its a different dynamic to forking out 50 million quid (which is a **** of a lot of money) just to stay in business.
    Onwards and upwards

If you are correct cidered then we sound to have finally got our wage structure in line with our league position. When I heard of the ridiculous salaries being paid to most of the underachievers that got us in this state I was seriously concerned about us going in to administration.

To start a rebuild you need to know that you will have the financial resources to cover what will be needed, and hopefully we are now at that point, so a thank you needs to be conveyed to whoever brought sanity back to Ashton gate.
