Right, so Bates' crap experiment of giving Redfearn four games has come unstuck, we have thrown away six points we should have claimed, and I fear Donny will burgle a win as well. This means that promotion is now a pipe dream and Leeds will start next season in the Championship. The worry of course is that Bates leaves Redfearn in charge until the Summer with the "I won't be rushed into appointing a new manager" rubbish. If he gets a new manager in now, we may have an outside chance of playoffs depending on who it is, but I'm not holding my breath. So, on to next season. First problem will be which players stay. Snodgrass will be sold as he will "want to play in the Prem" line echoing from Bates' office. Expect Aidy White to not sign a new deal and leave on a free to another Championship club. McCormack will probably be sacrificed as well, and any half decent offer for Clayton will probably be snapped up. Kisnorbo has a year left so he will stay, even if it is on crutches. Brown will be released as his contract was one season, along with Vayrynen, O'Dea will be back at Celtic. Not sure about Bruce and O'Brien, think they both have a year left, along with Rachubka, Paynter, Connolly and Lonergan. Rogers, Bromby and Becchio also have a year left, as does Somma, Nunez signed to 2015. Parker will probably not get a new deal, think Sam is also free to leave in June along with Forsell. We may be left with this: Lonergan Rachubka Cairns Connolly Thompson Lees O'Brien Bruce Kisnorbo Bromby Pugh Nunez Rogers Becchio Paynter Somma That means the new boss will probably want to bring in at least 12 players and look to sell/loan out Rachubka, Connolly, Bruce, Bromby and Paynter to free up more money for wages. Surely Bates needs to up our budget to at least £20m for wages and transfer fees, especially if he refers to loan players of the quality of Henry "proving" the system is the right way to go. I think a lot is going to depend on who Bates brings in, and more importantly when. IMO he can't keep Redfearn on as boss, and needs to appoint a proper manager now!! This is important for two reasons: it gives us a chance to get back in the playoff picture if the new boss can get the players fighting for the shirt, and it allows the new manager time to properly assess his squad and start to plan for next season, regardless of what division we may be in. As it stands, until Bates actually moves to fix this positively, we are going to finish well off sixth place, and we may as well brace ourselves for the loss of a few of our best players without much reinvestment back into the playing squad. That is the Bates modus operandi unfortunately. Come on Bates, surely you can see what you need to do as Chairman? Start by shutting down the awful Yorkshire Radio and use that money on the squad. Ben Fry has no place at Elland Road!! Reduce the membership and ticket prices and fill the stadium again, and for goodness sake appoint a decent manager next week!! Oh, and don't skimp on contract negotiations, sign the players we should keep to contracts that are longer than a week please.
Thats a promotin winning team if ever i have seen one, we should be ok next season.... Is this the worst time in the history of this club? Should just start our own club - run by the fans for the fans....
Apparantly we are to appoint Mick McCarthy... Not sure how much is in it though, If we don't appoint a proper manager soon it will only result in negative ways. It doesn't take 4 games to see that Redfearn is not up to it http://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/2897...d-are-ready-to-offer-mick-mccarthy-an-instant
*sigh* the man can't be trusted. He claims he's only said no once. First it was the thursday before the window shut, for a centre back that was going to cost £11.5k a week. then it was £600 000 for the year, then it was £1.5 mill over the course of his contract, now it's a midfielder, it's the sunday before the window shut, and it was a loan signing. The man cannot be trusted. He's a disgrace.
IMO this seasons gone and we should build for next season --------------------Lonergan Smith(if we may sign him perm) Lees AOB pugh snodgrass-- clayton---------thompson---white -----------becchio--------mccormack even then we may lose snod, clayton or white or all 3 in summer. players like poleon and taylor should get some time in and around the 1st team squad
The worry is that there have been no murmurs of Leeds even talking to managerial candidates. I can't help but feel we will lose Snods, Clayton and White in the Summer, and Bates won't spend the money needed to replace them with equal or better quality. How much would it cost to replace those three? Five million at least? When last have we spent that amount on players? Bates has a terrible strategy in place, and it won't get us promotion - EVER!! If clubs like Wolves, Wigan, Bolton, Blackburn and QPR come down, rest assured they will build squads to go straight up, as West Ham did. Next season Leicester will come good with a better manager, and we will be sucking hind tit once again with a team of frees and loanees, but we'd be £12m in profit. Happy days!!
How will next season look? Depending on who's manager & who we hold on to. Right Manager & holding on to Clayton, Snoddy etc, we'll go up. If we get the right Manager in soon, we could still make the play offs. Academy players are now progressing towards the 1st team squad. Life could be worse.
nah boggers it's hopeless. We don't have the backbone of experienced players who are still young and fit enough to play a full season. All our players are either youth players or past it.
How does our season look? Have a squint at Pluto through the wrong end of a telescope. What you can see reflects our chances of getting out of the Champ with that Chump in charge.
