Do you think he would seriously contemplate sacking AVB? £13m to get him, another few bob to sack him... Will it be another January mega raid? What's gonna happen? (I want serious debate, forget the fact that I'm a gooner, I'm not wumming)
is it abramovic who makes the managerial decisions? he has no football background, shouldnt he leave footballing decisions to football people, look what happens when he forced shevchenko and torres on the manager, both were crap and both managers were sacked soon after...
What does it say for Roman when Chelsea fans are speculating on whether a manager will be sacked or not after he's been in charge for what, 4 months?
You are both blessed and cursed by having a billionaire owner. Blessed, because his wealth has got and kept you in the top 4 for so long, but cursed because his desire to win everything and not settle for 2nd place has finally driven him mad, to the point where he'll end up spending more money on hiring and firing managers than he will on your squad. AVB seems to be confident that he'll be given 5 years to re-build the new Chelsea, which implies that he's prepared to write-off the next four seasons. Whether the Russian is prepared to put up with his club finishing behind both Manc clubs and possibly also missing out on CL football remains to be seen.
Its all very easy to give your manager your personal backing but its an entirely different matter to stomach massive disappointment (early exit from CL) and along with it a status downgrade. I just can't see Abramovich turning the other cheek and embracing humility....if he did he'd lose his suit of armour.
Hiddink in as Director of Football as soon as possible. A fair bit of movement in January, with Anelka, Drogba and Alex probably being the most high-profile transfers. Lukaku going on loan will also free up another place in the squad. Could Chelsea move for van Persie?
That makes a lot of sense! Cant see the van Persie bit though! Much as we need someone like him, there is no way Arsenal would let him come here, whatever the price! What we have to do is get the players to believe in themselves again! Guus is the man for that.
I just think that if a number of strikers leave, which appears likely, then at least one high profile replacement will be brought in. The van Persie suggestion was a little tongue in cheek, admittedly. Perhaps Guiseppe Rossi, now that Villarreal are doomed to exit from the Champions League?
