I am not sure i have seen such a player like this play for us before. By all accounts he is going to play in midfield when he gets older. This is according to Wenger and also the Saints fans and their people at the club. But he plays on the right wing like that is what he was born to do. He beats people with sheer ease on the outside or inside with tricks. Did that 'Ronaldo chop' on Tuesday to beat their full back and get on the inside. His crossing is also very good and put in a few dangerous balls for our forwards to attack. His crossing was spectacular when he played for England under 21's where he did not waste a single cross. The reason he is unique for me is that despite his speed he still has time on the ball and makes the correct move nearly everytime. That is scary when you think about that skill added to the pace he has. Also on Tuesday he dropped into the midfield a few times and was spraying passes to the left with again a lot of ease. Almost like a deep-lying playmaker. But this is a player with unreal speed who dropped into midfiled and playing like Wilshere. So he has an eye for goal, can pass, dribble, break high lines with pace and cross. Just imagine a player like this playing in midfield and breaking at speed from the midfield into the box. How do you pick him up? Most people can't pick up Fabregas when he does the same and he does even compare when you think about the difference in speed between the two. This is an astonishing talent we have.
Well done. Not lets get on to talking about his style of play. But lets be fair, you will probaly say anything else in order to avoid giving praise to our players.
Thanks for sharing the vid Super Jack. He brings light to our future. Much light. I'm beginning to feel a lot better about our season. He's still young at 18 so I hope that while we have need of his skills now, we pace his entry to the first XI so he has a long career with us.
he looked great. Real prospect, and while it may have just been against little old us from league 2, the fact remains he destroyed one of the top LBs from League 2. The gap's big, but players can often jump up a couple of divisions like Mackail-Smith, so demolishing a League Two side at 18 is really impressive. I also gather he's become a handy player for England under 21s. P.S. You can't have degrees of unique-ness á la pretty unique, very unique. Just a little thing that really bugs me, sorry!
He has great vision on the ball there's no denying however I can't help but feel he has been overhyped on certain aspects of his game for his pace he dosen't get it round people often enough and is often trying the 'impossible pass' instead of keeping the ball. That's not to say he won't be a quality player, which he will. I fear the pressure on him with the publicity he's getting won't help but be more a hindrance. Good luck to Oxo and Arsenal.
He was getting round people in the two under 21's game. Did it a lot and was then crossing and got lots of assists in those two games. Too be honest he is not getting much hype outside the Arsenal circle. Wilshere is the guy everyone looks at from outside and pinning their hopes on him for England.
Yeah he's crossing is superb, I should have mentioned that. I can't say I noticed him getting round people last year however with the likes of Theo and Gervinho in the arsenal team he might be learning off them. There is still a lot of talk about him down here being a future England star etc..
He looks good to me. I think he'll be a player that Wilshere will absolutely relish playing with. He has pace, tricks, and passing range. It seems his short-range passing that lets him down more than long range. Long-range he can open up space by hitting players on the by-line. Close, intricate passing around the box is much harder, and his precision and weight needs a bit of work, but that will come in time He looks a good prospect, I've hardly heard any hype around him at all - most Arsenal fans seemed very mad that he'd been signed for such a sum when he wasn't what the team needed. If anything he's been put down since the moment he arrived, it'll take some stirling performances to win over the Arsenal crowd. Can we see him taking over from Theo on the right this season? Possibly with Gervinho on the left, and Theo off RvP in the middle?
Arsene might have to tweak the formation to accomodate Gervinho, Walcott, OXO and RVP. It's time that Walcott stepped up and was used in his rightful position. He is and will always be a CF and i think Wengers experiment of using him on the wings for training should end now. With Miyiachi too, he really needs to think of playing a more Invincibles type of football. There is no point buying fast players if you revert to slowing it down for possessional play all the time. Even Barca breaks at pace at times, we should be more flexable too.
I couldn't agree more Mr 20K but you know Wenger The All Powerful. He simply hates it when others try to offer suggestions to him. It has to be his idea unless of course David Dein persuades him in a round about way. You'll hear something quite revealing in the link that I posted in this thread http://www.not606.com/showthread.php/88632-Arsenal-Has-Allowed-Arsene-Wenger-Too-Much-Power
You're right SJW he is a very interesting player. I watched the video and in the first half he seemed very raw, his passing was shaky and his crossing was hit and miss but his dribbling was reasonably good. In the second half though he seemed much more confident and was taking on players more often as well as attempting more ambitious things, which worked more often than not. He looks comfortable both in CM and as a winger which is very unusual as they require quite different skill sets. My bet is that he ends up being an AM as he has the speed and close control to be dangerous there. I think he needs to work on his long range passing more but he has plenty of time to perfect it. All in all a very exciting player for us.
