I have been very sick recently and spent 3 weeks in hospital having to undergo major surgery.
I have been given Senna tablets for constipation, these have not worked.
I am suffering badly with this and it is causing me a great deal of distress and discomfort. Does anybody know of anything they can suggest?

Really sorry to hear that mate. But no, can't help at all. Wasn't milk of magnesia supposed to help back in the day?

Got to be drinking plenty of water, but I guess you're trying to do that already.

Certain fruit juice drinks are supposed to be good for keeping things moving.
Not really sure which ones (beyond the obvious prunes) but there are other fruits supposed to be good for that kind of thing.
Have a rummage around the internet Elfs (good sites only though, not quack medicine)

Also, are you eating a bit too healthy now?
Sounds odd I know, but perhaps too much of the things they always tell us are good for us, and no little treats? Sometimes a bit of something with some fat or oil in it helps keep the wheels turning.

Can't say I'm ever bothered by constipation much, unless I get dehydrated. Why I mentioned the water of course...

I have gone the other way with my diet mate.

    Salad and fruit
    Oily fish and chicken
    Boiled spuds
    Plenty of water

I'm on the NHS site, but after breakfast I'm getting in touch with my ward at King's, their after care is fantastic.

I'm on codeine for pain relief BUT I'm seeing cases that these can bring on constipation! Ffs.

Yes, it could well be the codeine. Perhaps an alternative is available?

I've heard now that Sandman may well be our old chum PL54 - currently banned from both of the biggest Charlton fans' forums.

Odd, because I thought PL54 did sign on here under his own name a while ago. Don't see why he should hide behind another identity now, unless it is to side-step an old ban here as well. But I don't know if PL54 was ever banned from this forum.

    I appreciate your help chaps.
Also appreciate none of us wants to see anyone banned if it can be avoided.
I don't mind different opinions, and I'm quite willing to argue my corner. But it's a pity if attacking me and a few other Charlton fans on other forums is all Sandman wants to do here.
I'm happy to end hostilities now, and not interact with him again (in case that is taken as hostility) if he is willing to do the same.
