    How to Silence your Critics.

We all know how it went down just 2 short weeks ago, we got beaten at home to Man Utd and a few short hours later the news breaks that Martin O’Neil is no more, he’s gone, never said anything just kept his dignity, cleared his locker and off into the night.
Speculation was rife and Paulo Di Canio was branded the favourite to take over. Most on here didn’t want him, myself included but it had sod all to do with his Political beliefs, I don’t really care what they are as I’m not really into that sort of thing anyway. I just didn’t think he had the experience to manage in the top flight. I was hoping that maybe Ellis had some wonder manager waiting in the wings with a magic wand and he would come and transform our club and restore some faith. The club were actually quoted as having already spoken to someone about the vacant position. The bookies soon had Paulo as favourite. We didn’t want ‘the Mad Italian’ Di Matteo was probably everyone’s choice although realistically I doubted he would even consider us. I did hear that he was on his way up for talks but Paulo accepted the already offered job. Di Matteo was second choice. ( just a mates ‘taxi driver’ gossip by the way)
As soon as it was announced that it was Paulo, the Gutter Press, the News channels, Politicians, Human Rights groups, the wife next door even, they all crucified the bloke and he hadn’t even opened his mouth at this point. Even that soppy twat Milliband resigned on a matter of principal quoting a clash of political differences and he could no longer continue. Good riddance you tosser.
Paulo graciously denies any political tendencies and says he has been misquoted, surely he can’t be right? The press are never wrong are they? Surely not, we have a dictator at the helm and the trial by press continues.
Monday morning soon comes and the new manager is hounded again, this time at the AOL out on the training pitch, the press can clearly bee seen waiting in the wings like vultures waiting to pounce at any moment, hoping for a quote that they can twist and re-word so that Pualo will be tortured even more. Thankfully our new manager has had enough by this time and declares that he wants to be judged on FOOTBALL alone and not any political beliefs.
He immediately sets to work on an unfit team and gets them working harder than ever, but the players respond and even speak to the press and announce how much they are enjoying the new manager’s methods. Paulo even speaks to the Press regularly, mostly the Echo but he keeps us fans informed of his visions and how he intends to turn us around. I’ve heard this man address the fans more in 2 short weeks than any previous manager has done in their entire tenure. He is connecting with us fans and feels the passion we share, he too has passion in his belly for our club. He is indeed a very passionate man, he eats, sleeps and drinks football and expects his players to do the same.
His first game in charge after only a few short days in charge is away to Chelsea, a formidable task by anyone’s standards. We get beaten but there are signs that he is already making a big difference as our first half performance clearly shows. We’re 1-0 up going into the second half but 2 quick goals take the wind out of us and a lack of fitness is very evident, Chelsea look comfortable despite a late flurry from us. Despite the loss, there were signs of encouragement. You can see the players look more confident and even in defeat they are looking at positives to take into the next game.
Now for the big one, the much awaited return to the scums place. I said last week that I’d be happy to cancel this one and give both teams a point, I’d have been very happy with a point as it would have stopped the rot and given us a vital point on the table which we were desperate for. To be honest, the more I listened to Paulo in the papers every day and the player’s responses to these new methods of training, the intense tactical training as well as fitness, the more I thought we could nick something from this game. Normally I’m nervous for the whole week leading up to this match, home or away, I always have been. It’s the build-up, the excitement, the anticipation, the planning behind it all. For some reason the nerves never kicked in till Friday afternoon, I’ve been calm all week, just enjoyed reading what our new manager was saying in the press, he told us the team were responding and what a great set of players we had, unfit but quality players and they were doing everything possible to make things right. They knew the importance of this match as did he. He wanted Victory, he wanted to put his marker down, he knew how much this match means to both sets of supporters but ours in particular. In my heart of hearts I hoped we would get an early goal and run the match out for a narrow 1-0 victory but deep down I was preparing myself for a scrappy 0-0 with plenty of bookings for both side and maybe a red card somewhere along the way.
OH how wrong I was. Never ever did I imagine that the manager and coaching staff would have our depleted team so prepared for this match after such a short time in charge. How is it possible? We struggled to beat a **** 10 man Norwich, a **** 10 man Wigan, **** me we could even beat the ****tiest team in the league not so long back. How did they manage to turn us round in so little time? What a performance!!! Passion, Desire, Determination, Graft and Skill, Confidence, I saw it all yesterday. Even from the bench as well, even from a banned player up in the stands cheering us on with the rest of the lads, brilliant, just brilliant. The manager now needs a new suit and says he hopes he needs a new one every week. **** me I though MON was animated but ‘the Mad Italian’ takes animated to a whole new level, keep it up Paulo, it shows you care and just wait till you have 40,000+ mackems behind you my friend, you will feel passion for sure.
Back to my question ‘How to Silence your Critics’ To all you ****e hole Gutter Press who wanted to drag the bloke down even as the ink was still wet on his contract, for reasons that had **** all to do with managing a Football Club. **** you all, each and every one of you, yesterday between 12:00 & 2:00, that’s how you shut the ****ers up. And where the **** are they now? Not one of them has the balls to stand up and pour praise on the man they took great delight in trying to drag down just 2 short weeks ago. Shame on you all.

Arise Sir Paulo, you are now an Honorary Mackem and a hero, now go out and buy a new suit and prepare yourself for a hero’s welcome in 6 Day’s time at the church they call the Stadium of Light.
