If you really wanted to ruin a football club what would you choose to do? 1) Attempt to change the team name against the wishes of the majority of fans. 2) Having failed at 1) Attempt to change the team name (again) against the wishes of the majority of fans. 3) Call the fans 'irrelevant' and 'hope the fans would die' 4) Introduce a huge increase in the price of tickets and season passes. 5) Having succeeded at 4) Introduce another huge increase in ticket prices the very next season even though the team had been relegated. 6) Refuse to accept the FA's decision on the name change and introduce a re-branding that overuses the word 'Tigers' at every opportunity, refuses to use the words 'Hull City' and fails to use any team name on their season pass cards and in their advertising campaigns - e.g. (blank) v Sheffield Wednesday, etc. 7) Force fans to move to a new stand. 8) Having already driven thousands of loyal fans away - rather than reduce prices right across the board to encourage more fans (like Bradford City and Huddersfield Town have done) - introduce a new membership scheme instead that: - a) forces even more fans to move to a new area b) increases the prices for certain groups e.g. teenagers (fans of the future) and senior members - on the understanding that some prices will in fact decrease. c) facilitates the closure of a popular stand. Perhaps a combination of all of the above might have the desired effect of driving even more fans away and then maybe the owners could look at closing another stand.
When did all that happen ????? Allow me to Lambast the fans Loath the fans Alienate the fans Move the rest of the fans S**t on the fans Sorry I know is bad but worth a try, it was the only way I could think of to get the name of our owners in there somehow ....
And don't forget, this all came about because of His spat with the council. Then it was all about the words Hull City and Hull City Council. He no likey. Hence the name change. Nothing to do with overseas revenue. Just spite. But then the fans took the brunt of his ire. Why? Because he assumed that his 'gift' meant every City fan would back him 100% with the name change. He underestimated what being a Hull City fan is. We told him where to go and no mistake. Then he took his ball home. The indignation he felt at the (should be) worshippers revolt meant ties were severed. The gulf between the fans and the Allams is still there. And, as far as i can see, always will be. The sooner the Allams go, the better.
First time I saw City Up on Bunker's Hill Chelsea were the team 'Kinell, they won two nil Oh but I loved the passion From fans both old and young For they kept up the feeling 'Ull had better things to come After many years of waiting Love turned into pride Life as a Tiger blossomed And we finally turned the tide. Maybe they don't know Some troubled times we've had Or maybe they don't care Kill our club and they'll be glad.
