The club is seeking suggestions on how they can improve the overall matchday experience at Portman Road. Apart from getting rid of Clegg and Jewell: 1. Lower the price of matchday tickets. 2. Improve the pre-match music (its dreadful atm). 3. Bring back the scantily clad cheer leaders. 4. Install a huge screen in the corners of the Sir Alf Ramsey/Cobbold to replay any highlights. 5. Move the away fans to the other end of the Cobbold nearest the Sir Bobby. 6. Improve the team. 7. Bring back the original version of 'Singing the blues' 8. Reduce the cost of Hoppers season ticket. Any others.......
I don't want to have screens, hate the idea. Aside from that, frankly, they're barking up the wrong tree. You can't polish a turd.
Seriously, here are my thoughts. Move the away fans next to the SBR stand. & Free pint of IPA for every goal we conceded!
I really like the idea of moving the away fans to the SBR Stand end of Cobbold .It would improvethe atmosphere no end.Unfortunately it's never going to happen because from the present end they can be shunted straight towards the railway station without delaying the exit of the majority of the Cobbold Stand.
Point 8 has its merits... As for moving the away fans, why this is an issue is beyond me; can anyone recall any agro over the past few years at PR (not derby days) Was there any problem when Arsenal had the whole of Cobbold stand Is it really that difficult to disperse the crowd to the station or coach parks from that end I don't see this as a problem when we go away, most other grounds I have been to they let you out and you get on with it..! About time the stewards/police did the job on a match day that they got paid for...IMO The last time I had a conversation with a Steward at PR was because we were making to much noise for the section we were sitting in.....Unfortunately this is a true story...FFS
All of the above would be good . I would also like all of the away games to be shown on a huge screen hanging of the cobbold stand , opening up the britannia for fans . i reckon a tenner a ticket would be a good price . of course drinking would have to be allowed in view of the pitch . coyb (next season)
If Paul Jewell is still in charge next season I think that the crowd should also be issued with free Prozac before each game kicks-off!!!!
JWM i agree with all your points. I think probably the main thing to improve the atmosphere is improvements on the pitch tbh but then I still think it will take time to come back. I think I'd make the lower sections of the Sir Bobby Robson and Sir Alf Ramsey stands standing. Much like one of the clubs in Germany I think, I can't remember their names but you still are allocated a place you just don't have a seat and there is a rail inbetween rows. And also move the away fans closer to the SBR stand. Certainly lowering matchday ticket prices is a must. I stopped going as regularly as I used to 1st of all because I hated Roy Keanes guts and the football we played was awful and I'm not that tempted to go much more recently as although the entertainment has improved we are still not that good and I cannot afford to pay that amount for a ticket!! I mean £38 for an adult ticket and it was £28 for a student ticket in some matches this season and one of those was against Nottingham Forrest who were bottom at the time and we lost!! I also think perhaps they should give some sort of incentive to students, where you can buy tickets cheaper through the university and student tickets should be no more than £15!! And maybe looking at something similar for schools in the area. I used to love the pre-match music of "right here, right now" by Fat boy slim, when ever I hear that music it gives me a rush of excitement and also the Piranha's song Tom Hark for scoring, that was always a good one. Plus singing the blues before the match starts. It also annoys me the language used at football matches, I don't mind it so much in songs but sometimes you see little kids next to a full grown man(usually his dad) swearing his head off!! But at the same time it would be nice not to get given a snobbish look if you clap or start singing in certain areas of the stadium!!
Unfortunately I can't see the cost of matchday tickets coming down. With the new fair play rules meaning you can't spend more money than you generate through the club (or however it works) it is very unlikely that we would want to make ourselves weaker by taking less money from tickets. Sure there's the argument that cheaper tickets will mean more supporters but does that equate to more revenue?
Get rid of the current goal celebration music! Chelsea Dagger! FFS What's all that about? Either have something like Tom Hark or Papa's got a brand new pig bag or better still nothing at all!
