Rangers, the establishment team in Scotland, the team that has the Scottish government, the SPL, and the SFA always bending over backwards to maintain Rangers position up around the top of the tree. Neither the Government, the SPL, or the SFA have ever cared what happens to Celtic and indeed over the years have tried everything within their grasp to destroy the Celtic club. The reason Rangers are in the predicament that they are in today is basically down to two things. Forget about Whyte, forget about Murray and his double contacts, EBTs etc. They are only the results of the problem. The first problem that Rangers have is the fact that their stadium is too small and is situated on too small a site. Ibrox may have been o/k 30 or forty years ago when stadiums were mostly standing and only the main stand was for sitting. I was there on the fateful day in 1972, and I will bring my memories of that day, to my grave. For a club like Rangers to have aspirations of bettering Celtic they would need to have accommodation for at 20%- or 25% more than what they can hold. Rangers I believe cannot extend their stadium as it is already at its maximum height for the area on which it is built. The other problem Rangers have is more of a historic or traditional problem. While Society at large in Scotland and the North of Ireland moved on and people of all religions and none were welcomed into all work places, social places, pubs and clubs Rangers had to be dragged into the 20th century and it is only in recent years that they employed a Catholic player. They employed a Catholic manager and after a player "revolt" led by captain Barry Ferguson, the R.C Manager was sacked. Of course with the club's attitude to Catholics, it is no surprise that the club attract minimum numbers of Catholics to games. Whilst at games Rangers fans sing anti-Catholic songs at will (Especially all Scottish games). Now i feel the smallness of stadium and their inability or unwilling to attract support from all shades of Religion means Rangers are losing out a large chunk of revenue. Not getting this revenue made Murray desperate and he then did desperate things. You know the rest.
Rangers problems started when they decided against signing me on the grounds of a dodgy medical. I went to Celtic instead and the rest is history.
If it's the Ibrox disaster you are alluding to that took place in 1971, surely you would remember that if you mean to bring such memories to your "grave"! Maybe I've misread you and you are really meaning that you went to Barcelona in 1972 with the hope that we would lose the final? Big John it is a pity that we did not sign you on account of your rickets and all. Can I wish you all the best in your punditry.
Thank you very much. It's not that difficult, really. Whoever draws the short straw in the office takes me down the pub for the afternoon, plies me with lager and records my incoherent ramblings. They go back to the office and transcribe the bits that are printable in a family newspaper, slap my name on it and Bob's yer uncle.
Big John I applaud your journalistic endeavours. I intend to pray to the baby Jesus this Good Friday that you be awarded the Pulitzer prize (and that he cures your rickets). If only others such as Speirs, Keevins and Traynor could adopt such an approach they would regain the trust of the man in the street. You are a role model to us all big fellow. God bless you.
Mose Rangers have had very many disasters, in fact it could be said its entire history has almost been one long disaster, starting with a no Catholic rule in the 1920's and when they were forced to change it, they did so with a double contract rule for their favoured employees. God it must be awful difficult for a decent Rangers follower ever to support a club that cheated and bullied its way season after season. However Moses you wouldn't understand that.
Goodness can't you take a leaf out of Big John Hartson's book and at least be friendly. Regarding signing policies regarding not signing catholics I think you will find they chose to change it rather than being forced to change it. I'm sure you'll agree that's much more positive You sound troubled though so I will pray to baby Jesus for you also on this Good Friday he will heal your fear and hatred as he did big John's rickets. The holy says God bless you super hooper
Moses, I take it you've come home for a few days over the Easter holidays and that's how you're able to spend so much time on this board - is the missus ok with that as I would have thought she would have wanted to 'make up' for lost time while you've been on the road? I hope you don't come out with that religious stuff on the doorsteps of your prospective customers - it would certainly put me off buying whatever it is you're selling..........or is that what you actually sell door to door? <slamsdoorshutonAmericanEvangelistface>
Moses, it is obvious that you have not been following Scottish Football for long or you would know that UEFA hod a wee word with Rangers reminding the h.ns that their non R.C. signing was not in line with UEFA policy and hence you have a certain amount of truth in saying Rangers chose o pick R,Cs belatedly, it is true that they were encouraged.
Alas sir you were correct. After my brief daliance with religion on Good Friday I came home to find that the missus (through sheer frustration) had pissed off to be pumped by big John Hartson.
Moses with wit like yours are you sure you are in the right place. I know following Rangers can be bad for your health, especially now that every one knows that Rangers have cheated for decades. Certainly I suppose I will have to take into consideration your poor state of health and consider it un-necessary to read the postings of a half-wit.
You have my sympathy sir. Your reference to a 'brief dalliance', however, would seem to indicate a possible fickleness in your nature. Nevertheless, this capriciousness could, perhaps, be your salvation. Given that your good wife has been converted by a former Celtic great, is it within the realms of possibility that you would see the error of your ways in supporting that base institution that is (or maybe soon to be, was) Rangers FC and join us in the Celtic family - in your capacity as a door-to-door salesman you might also do a nice line in selling the new Celtic sports' tops as they will be in big demand now that we are the champions?
