I'm talking about our central 3. Of Victor, Morgan and Cork/Davis/Ward-Prowse (obviously pick your favourite).

City, Chelsea and Arsenal have the three strongest midfields by a distance. But after those 3 where would you put our first choice 3 in comparison with other teams?

Liverpool have Henderson/Countinho, Can/Lucas and Gerrard.
Everton have Barry, McCarthy and Barkley.
    Tottenham have Dembele/Holtby, Erikson,Paulinho and Sandro/Bentaleb/Capoue.
    United have Herrera, Fletcher, Mata.

I think they're the only clubs who's midfields rival ours. If anyone thinks any other clubs are worth a mention do say so. So where would you put us? I reckon 5th behind City, Chelsea, Arsenal and spurs. We're touch and go with United and Liverpool.

Thoughts? Remember we're going strictly by the first 3 not by depth!

I don't think it's quite as good as Everton's. McCarthy is quite an underrated player. Very solid. Spurs have the talent but they're not consistent.

So still 5th? But behind Everton instead of Spurs?

Newcastle appear to have a fairly strong, robust central midfield, but one which is very much lacking in creative talent.

And I'd take Wanyama over any of their said strong, robust central midfielders.

And you still haven't mentioned Taider and Reed, that is serious depth...I think that the 3 that played today (Morgan/Vic/Davis) ran the show today with Dusan and JWP providing the creativity further forward....so I would say that 5th would be a reasonable shout, with not much dip in quality if any are injured.

I was relatively impressed with Cabella today, quite a bit of flair but occasionally failed in terms of end product reminds me a bit of Gaston.

You see today we played Davis wide with Wanyama alongside Schneiderlin and Prowse at no10 which I think worked very well.

As a Liverpool fan my pick of three - would be Gerrard, Henderson and Can. (we also have Allen (doesn't count as he's ****!) Sterling, Coutinho, Markovic, lallana) but I didn't include them as they're more of our attacking threat - whereas I chose a solid midfield 3. But on ability it would be - Sterling, Coutinho and Henderson/Gerrard

You may not have seen Can play, but he's quality and can play either box to box or DM. Very versatile, and for a youngster is very experienced. Played in the CL last season for Dortmund. Once he settles in I'm certain he'll be one of the first names on our team sheet.

So I'd say ours is 4th and I'd probably have yours as 5th slightly above Everton and Man Utd.

However it is important to keep our midfield squad together which includes keeping Corky who is a very good squad player who is just unlucky not to be first choice but ready to replace anyone whose form drops, injuries, suspensions etcLet's not let him go to one of our main competitors (Swansea) where he will harm us instead of keeping him to boost our squad

You are spot on, we have to have the mind set that every player will likely miss 6 games and ensure the squad can cope. We must learn from last season and not rely on fielding one strong side, and being weaker through absentees. Ron is a great coach and will plan for this I'm sure.

With a couple more signings the squad will have a lot more depth than last season.

Taïder and Reed are playing for the U21s this afternoon against Fulham. Could be interesting to see how they go.

Everton signed Besic and i'm incredibly jealous. I think that kids going to be a real star.

I think defensive midfield wise it doesn't get much better than Vic & Morgan. I'd probably go as high as 3rd best in the league behind Matic & Ramirez or Fernando & Fernandinho, but we don't have that play maker like the others which means overall we're a bit further down the tree, but still better than United :)

I'd argue that both Morgan and Wanyama are better than Ramires!
