http://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/lat...source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitterPhilippe Coutinho turned in one of his best performances for Liverpool during the 4-0 win over Everton on Tuesday – and Opta stats from the game show how the Brazilian balanced defence and attack to good effect. In the absence of Lucas Leiva and Joe Allen, the onus was on the attack-minded Coutinho to drop deep and assist Jordan Henderson and Steven Gerrard in front of the back four. The emphatic scoreline suggests he played his role to perfection - and the statistics go to some lengths in backing that assertion. Coutinho attempted five tackles and won four, which was more than any other Liverpool player on the pitch. He also made two clearances and a block during the match. When it was time for the No.10 to spring forward and bolster the Reds' attack, he proved a key player once more, creating four shot assists and firing two efforts of his own. The diligent midfielder had more touches of the ball (65) and hit more passes (45) than anyon in red throughout the 79 minutes he was on the field. A performance more akin to how he started when he arrived Worked really hard and I agree he had his best game in a while. A key player for us, it's no coincidence that the better he plays the better our results are. Some touches of pure genius last night
The man with a deadly pass when given time and space. Been a bit of the boil recently but with Sturridge back i think he plays even better than when Suarez is there. Thing with Sturridge he has the pace and acceleration and gambles much more than Suarez which helps Coutinhos game so much more
i think suarez defending on left made also a huge difference. the most impressive thing however is.............. last week v villa he was put in a 3 then hauled off cos he didn't get it.... its only really a few days later and here he is playing the role. frankly that speaks volumes for his game intelligence and the job the coaches did on the week.. fair f's to them for it
Coutinho. His vision and weight off pass is out of this world but he has been getting it wrong recently. I think its no coincidence that with Sturridge back in the side, who is just that nippier and happy to hang on the last defender a bit more often (he does drop deep to) that Coutinho's key passes are coming off that much more (see first goal yesterday)
He's only 20 as well... If we can keep him for next 5 years or beyond and maintain and improve performances he'll be one if the bargain buys.
