I cannot say that I have ever heard of James Innes-Smith. He has got a new book coming out entitled “The Seven Ages of Man: How to Live a Meaningful Life”. So I guess his publicist suggested to him that he write a piece for The Telegraph, which they ran under the headline “Are men like me the reason young women aren’t starting families?

The simple answer to the question posed in the case of Mr Innes-Smith might be “yes”, although he does confess later in the piece that he married in his forties to a much younger woman who presented him with a child in his fifties and her late thirties. He does appear to define ‘young women’ from the ONS statistic that 50.1 per cent of women born in 1990 were without a child when they turned 30 in 2020.

“Why are men so afraid of settling down and having children? Part of the answer may lie in the phrase “settling down”. In a world of ever-expanding opportunity, why would an ambitious young man in his 20s, or even 30s, sacrifice freedom for the limitations of fatherhood? It’s a question every man must grapple with, and I should know, as someone who has done more than his fair share of grappling. I come from a generation of men, now in our 40s and 50s, who were told we could have it all. Many of us believed the message, and still do.”

I wonder how many women will read this argument and write in to point out to Mr Innes-Smith that the “generation of men” that were told that they could have it all also contained a “generation of women” who were also told that they could have it all. That is feminism for you. In twenty years time when they are all on their own with no-one to look after them, the woman can at least blame feminism but what do the men blame? Masculinism?

Whilst the biological imperative is commonly advertised for woman, male fertility wanes with age too. The clock of Mother Nature is ticking for both sexes. Mr Innes-Smith does not tell whether fatherhood was accidental in his case.

Much of the rest of the article is an overview of the author’s relationships like the thirtysomething girlfriend when he was in his late twenties who wanted to settle down and have kids (biological imperative) but he wanted to keep on partying. So there was one ‘young woman’ who did not start a family – unless she found somebody else after getting rid of her toyboy.

He may have a valid point when he discusses the “swipe left” generation, where both young men and young women delude themselves that there is somebody perfect out there if they just hold out for long enough. The successful relationship/marriage of the past generations was based upon something that modern generations will not countenance: compromise. As they age, the modern generations will live in a country increasingly dependent upon young immigrants, who will not espouse their British values.

Interesting bit of maths from crypto. My first house was bought in 1976. Three bed detached £9300. I was on a basic £208 per month but doing seven day 7-7 shifts for a Yankee oil company in their Gt.Yarmouth office I used to clear £409, so just a shade under two years to pay off the house - 21 months as I had put a grand down. In 1977 I bought a Jaguar XJ6 off the company. I made £1150 profit on it - one eighth of the house price. Yeah, we had it cushy!

Serfdom awaits for all us plebs.

Becoming a dad at 21 a late 8 years ago was life defining for me. Young people being discouraged from doing what is natural in life has created so many sad and depressed people, suicides and mental health issues all growing year on year.

Politics is basically creating problems and the political class telling you what you want to hear, then stealing your money to fix the problem, which they then don’t do but they all get richer as our lives become more complicated or poorer.

TV continues to pump misery into our living rooms which 80% of folk believe as gospel, social media creates agenda and folk become entrenched and fanatical in their views.

This century continues to see the biggest wealth transfer that has ever occurred.

The credit crunch, in a normal society, should’ve seen the elite take an almighty hit on their wealth when 90% of the banks ran out of money because of reckless behaviour.

Instead, just by complete coincidence, all western Govts enacted the same policies of printing money (leveraging debt onto the ordinary man in the street) and giving it to banks, who award themselves massive bonuses and salaries whilst shoring up their balance sheets, this in turn, didn’t lead to the natural correction of the housing market and here we are, property becoming unaffordable unless you want to live in some **** hole inner city housing scheme, as the same banks who who created the problems, are now cash rich thanks to the latest rounds of money printing, are becoming landlords and buying up property in London and beyond.

The next phase is underway, inflation out of control, crank up interest rates “to rein in inflation”, mass home repossession, media led public outrage, bank take ownership but rent back so the previous homeowners become the tenants, govt either subsidise the bank or the tenant… and we are a step closer to the new normal.

Mass human digitalisation, net zero, no meat, no kids, mandatory vaccination and individual sacrifice for the “greater good”.

The people in charge have this all planned and the boomer OP will still resort to his witty UoF, Jockshire, cretin retorts whilst failing to acknowledge that the “conspiracy theorists” have been more right than the govt or media ever were throughout the whole “pandemic”.

This is the engineered take down of western society, hard left ideology swept through of unis since the 50s and was accelerated after the Soviet Union collapsed, Chinas rise emboldened the lecturers and they furthered the agenda, whites are bad, your country is evil, men are scum unles they get pregnant… they are attacking everything that is natural, splitting up the nuclear family, generational living, pregnant women, strong men, eating meat, the real capitalist market, to create a false and fake new normal.

These people hate humanity, they have no love in their hearts, they view all of us as scum no matter what we do, they want a reduced human footprint, the serfs back to eating leaves and grass, as they continue to manipulate reality to further their agenda.

Good morning and have a nice day.

I think that the elite would have taken a big hit in terms of the actual number of pounds that they were worth but probably not in terms of property and goods. Letting the banks fail would certainly have been bad for almost all their employees. I think who it would have been really bad for though would have been that sector of society that occupies the middle ground economically. There would certainly have been mass unemployment but the wealthy would, as usual, found their way through the morass.

I think it highly unlikely that we would have seen Jacob Rees Mogg shopping at Farm Foods.

People will always make excuses in life, mainly for themselves, when it hasn't worked out for them like they'd hoped it would.

And that is exactly what happened with Brexit. People at the bottom of the pile were offered a scapegoat in the firm of foreigners creaming it. They bought into that lie and now they face the consequences. Interestingly gas prices in France have just shot up.....by 4%.

Some people are so brain dead that they do not understand how the financial system works.

Governments do not print money in the biggest economies of the world: central banks do. In the case of many members of the EU, there is one European Central Bank doing it. The central bank uses the money to buy government bonds. That introduces the new money into the system.

The rest of your fantasy is not worth explaining because you are too stupid to understand.

Quantitative Easing was tried by Japan back in the 1980s and has led to economic stagnation. It does not work but just like crazed Lefties argue with Socialism, the people doing it did not do it right so let us try again.

Serfdom certainly awaits for Scottish plebs – it is just more commonly known as Independence.

An independent Scotchland will fall flat on it's face without Scotch Oil.

Which is what the Scotch Nazi Party and Tree Huggers now have lined up.

Talk about a "marriage of convenience".
