Was a good and interesting read, but although I agree with the approach, I'm not on board when it's said that ....." brains aren’t fully developed until they’re about 25"... IMO...I think the immature actions are more from life experiences and education etc...plus we are all individual and develop differently..
Its a reference to functional capacity. The brain is fully developed and formed by twenty five. The development of the prefrontal cortex affects impulsiveness. We are more impulsive pre twenty five than post. That will not be exact, there are variables e.g. health but it is accurate regarding brain development,.

I understand that the brain does not develop the part that relates to actions and consequences until the late twenties. That would explain some of the things that this age group getting involved with that make the older population think "what the hell are they doing" It is also the reason why so many of this age group are of the opinion that it can never happen to them when the saner of us know that it can.
That is part of the tempo of learning starts at very early age .."don't put your hand in the fire!" … OUCHHHH …. . " I told you it hurts!" Like all things learning there are variables.. health is just one of hundreds! some people at 16 -18- 20 [ arbitrary ] will have the potential realised of someone 25- 30- 35 years old [ based on comment of ... 25 years is point near maximisation ] opposite is true the age group of 25 plus may drag behind the potential attained by some of many lesser years. [ teen age! ] the recognition of the PFC as being the area of the brain that alludes to decision making is far from an exact science, like many parts of this wonderful bit of matter, only the more obvious basic actions are understood [ to a degree ] or have been found. One question I always ask myself ...… the brain has a capacity of billions of memory cells, simply put, over time they die off but we go to the grave with billions that are "fresh" / unused, the path lines connecting them, in the main, still in receptive order... so why do we get the "age related degeneration diseases? "
Off at a tangent. There is an FA psychology course that I feel should be made readily available to anybody interested. I feel it should also be mandatory for coaches. This is a differing point but related with regularity I see coaches giving very young players information they can't understand, and parents bellowing similar. That can't is a can't, players up to eleven comprehension skills are not developed enough to understand the tactical. Coaches and parents bombard them with information that they can't process.
