If we get offered £500k snap their hands off. In saying that he has a good track record and clearly suffered by the disorganisation at our place last season. Sod's law, we sell him and he scores 4 or 5 against us next season!!!
We were rumoured to have given Reading around the 2 mill mark so they could pay their tax bill. Seemed like a decent deal at the time with ALF's track record but it all went pear shaped. The guy has proved he can score goals at this level, but was pitiful in front of goal for us when he had the chances. There's a fair argument that he could have been a victim of the internal happenings behind the scenes with us, but nothing can excuse some of those appalling misses. The fact that he's done it before (and since at Bolton) may prompt someone to pay a seven figure sum for him. It's clear he doesn't want to be down here and would prefer to return permanently to his home area so just take the best we can get for him and not just from Bolton - an auction wouldn't be a bad idea.
Watching him play for Bolton v Bournemouth I believe we saw the real Alf. He ran around a lot, missed a very clear goal scoring chance, then was anonymous till he was subbed. He has spent much of his career on the bench, with most of the success as an impact sub, if we can recoup a decent percentage of the fee we paid I'll be happy to see him move on.
