http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/23065970# This got me wondering. If Saints ever came up with a similar offer how much would you be willing to pay to achieve what for many of us would be a life-time ambition! Pulling on the shirt and running out with Lambert etc what a moment! I'd pay shedloads but Mrs L would probably have me locked up Is 20K too much?
Not a penny...I really love Saints so the thought of me running about destroying a game for them in front of thousands of fans is the kind of thing that has me waking up in a cold sweat.
In fact I don't think I'd even be keen to do the half-time race thing in case I made a total tit of myself!
I've always said if a big, big windfall came my way, I'd do what the Donny Chairman did a few years back and buy my local team, Cobblers (no, It's true ) and get myself a little fitter than I am now (by that I meanmove from overweight to just overwight) and get on for the last 10 minutes.
How many of us dream that we're playing for Saints in a local derby, and score a 95th minute winner in front of the pompey fans.
I was staggered by this article even though it is only too obvious that many clubs are in a perilous state of affairs. Being made aware of what Winchester City have been going though to recruit new players seems to me to make this an even more ludicrous scenario at Macclesfield. Several things crossed my mind. One was to do with plater registration and how would this work. I would also be curious to see how the PFA viewed this and whether they anticipated this being a threat. No one seems to have mentioned the fans either as I wouldn't be too happy paying money to watch an enthusiastic amateur, irrespective that the articel states there is no guarantee of getting on the pitch. I suppose that this does appeal to childhood dreams yet I think it would be embarrassing if you proved not to be a success. Oddily enough, there was a scheme run by the reconstituted Wanderers a few years ago where you could buy a replica shirt and play for a 7-a-side Wanderers team in an evening fixture with the money going to Unicef when they used to be their sponsors.
They can **** off. 10 minutes is a joke for that much. Especially at that level. They should be giving the person 90 minutes. I'd pay 5k, maybe more, to play for Saints for 90 minutes in the Premier league by the way. As long as I got to play in my preferred position.
