I've just witnessed the Leeds scum, and I'm sorry for all you decent Leeds fans but you're guilty by association, run on the pitch and deck Chris Kirkland. Sorry but their club can't control them. Kick them out to the Conference.

I've seen worse. While I agree that what the Leeds fan did was wrong, Kirkland went to the floor way too easily. But to be fair to Kirkland he has always been incredibly injury prone. A soft slap to his face could have broken his cheek bone.

Given what happened in Serbia midweek, things could be much lower.

How much lower. Six feet? Does it matter Kirkland laid it on. The point is, that scum decided somebody he didn't know needed to be clouted in the face. What next a knife?
Football has sunk to the lowest depths these last few weeks. I really wish I didn't like it so much.

I dont know about that. A fairly violent two handed shove in the face when you are not expecting it would send most of us reeling. I just hope that Leeds are not going to be allowed to get away with the ' only one moron ' arguement put forward by Colin. The moron ran back into the crowd laughing and showing off. What did the Leeds fans do? Apprehend him and hand him over to the Police - No!! Have a go at him for what he had done - No!! They patted him on the back, helped him escape and generally treated him as a hero. Ban their supporters from every away ground in the Country for 2 years and make them play the next 6 home games behind closed doors.

Sorry wonky, but if you think Kirkland's reaction has even the slightest bearing on the matter then you really haven't understood what happened here.
The simple fact is, a fan has assaulted a player - it doesn't matter if he punched him, spat at him or tickled his arse with a feather. Nor does it matter whether Kirkland over-reacted.
The bottom line is, the players have a right to ply their trade safe in the knowledge that they are protected from any danger.
I fear now it won't be long before we get an epidemic of coin throwing.
And don't get me started on that twat Warnock. Again, trying to deflect the blame by saying Kirkland went down like a ton of bricks, completely missing the point.
I don't know what a proper punishment is for this really - most of the suggestions so far seem to be punishing the majority of the decent Leeds fans rather than the club.

That was a full force two handed attack on an unsuspecting man. The way Kirkland's head went back, I wouldn't be surprised if he wakes up with whiplash. Everyone of us would have gone over too; even me, and I'm a girl.

I hate to say this, but I'm honestly getting incredibly fed up and disillusioned with football.

Go and have a quick visit to the Leeds boards folks.
They are furious about him and have already named and shamed him on different threads on there.

What I am not too happy about, even the condemnation on the Leeds board, is the heroes welcome the prick gets when he goes back in the stand. For people to come out with "it's only 1 person that is tarnishing our club" it total nonsense, the mentality runs through many, many more of them and it is there for all to see at the tail end of this clip. Additionally I counted 7 other "fans" just behind the goal when the push happened but I did notice lot's more that had come out of the stand to join in with creating a scene. Sorry passing Leeds fans but this is not just 1 idiot, it's many.

I'm with 1950 canary on this one, it was two handed and with full force, you can clearly see his head jolt backwards. Didn't the Police catch him then?

I feel that they should be banned from away matches for a period if time, that's the only way you can assure it won't happen again, and this guy will not be a hero with the Leeds fans anymore.

Edit: having looked over on the Leeds board, I can see that they have named him and given his name to the police already. Fair play that!

    That's a bit harsh?

I'm certainly not condoning such behaviour, I think it's appalling, but it could have been so much worse. To even allow the fan on to the pitch was bad enough.

Sorry, but I really fail to see how either Kirkland went down "too easily" or how things could get "much lower".

    Sorry.

He could have punched or knifed him?

The going down too easily comment is probably just me getting pissed off with people moaning too much about small things. I had a seizure on Wednesday yet I still forced myself into uni, getting up at 5.30am. I know too many people who say they can't go into uni for much smaller reasons, and I just find it pathetic. If I can go into uni having had a seizure that causes me to become v confused, ill and with an injured shoulder then someone with a cold can come in. I would understand if Kirkland went to the floor having been kicked or punched but not if he's slapped like that!

But surely that's like saying Jimmy Savile could have been much worse if he had abused millions of children rather than just hundreds. Bit of a silly argument either way to be honest, what the Leeds fan did was/is simply abhorrent and as low as it gets if you ask me <ok>

Yes Savile could have done worse but he fell below the line, what he did was and still is disgusting.

Whereas people get slapped all the time, as I said above Kirkland could have been punched or stabbed which is even lower.

With you there JK the pathetic chanting if the West Ham fans the other week and this sort of behaviour is making me think that this is probably the last year I will buy 4 season tickets apart from the odd bit of excessive banter the last 4 years have been good for me to bring my children but I ain't paying over a grand for them to have to put up with the disgusting behaviour that seems to be returning to the game

Disappointed at how many people have had a go at proper Leeds fans, I've watched it over n over n not one fan pats him on the back like mentioned n I'm not being funny but just after we scored most where jumping about celebrating who would really be watching Kirkland to notice that happen?
