I like the bloke, i like his style of play, his work ethic for the team and all that but, the jury is still out for me. No doubt he will score goals and i reckon he'll bag a lot more with a decent strike partner alongside him but as for his worth?????

£30m is frankly ridiculous, he's better than Andy Carroll so I can see your logic but Liverpool were desperate and when the market settles down a bit if we were to get £24 mill or so then we'd be doing alright probably, football has gone crazy like

Carroll's a better player than Gyan. Call me biased all you want but he's a Liverpool player!

Carroll's probably better than Gyan. Hard to say, different style of play.

I really really like Gyan, I'd love to have him in our own team. My favourite player at the World Cup by far.
He's probably worth about 20mil I would've thought, judging Bent went for 24 was it?

    Let's ignore Carroll's fee, it's totally ridiculous.

I'd also like to say that I think Gyan's a good player. But he isn't worth anywhere near £30m, I'd say around £15m, Carroll around £18m.

Yeah that's probably a fairer estimation, mine was just based off Bent's price. Money's gone stupid, who knows what the hell prices are anymore.

    Bent a proven goal machine
Carroll about 10 career goals sold to desperate Liverpool
Gyanet about 10 prem goals n still no proof of long term guarantee of goals make him n Carol worth about the same---£15 million

No son I saw it all--still does not prove his long term premier league worth. This is in no way a criticism of Gyan just an observation. Are you saying 5 or 6 world cup goals for a minor nation mean he is a guaranteed goal machine in the prem. league ??

Mostly you are an irksome carbuncle -on this occasion, I find myself agreeing with you and your valuations (and yes, Carroll's fee was insane) - although I wouldn't necessarily place one higher than the other, however, given the money paid out for Bent, Carroll and Torres, it's hard to qualify what the market value would be of anyone -particularly a top striker atm

I think it was 5 goals, 4 assists and a number of misses - AND FYI GHANA ARE NOT A MINOR NATION -IDIOT, they should have made it to the semi's as they were better than Uruguay and could have gone on to beat Holland.

Bent's definitely more of a proven goalscorer and an excellent player, not doubting that, but Carroll shows amazing potential. Let's not forget Bent's experience and 5 years on Carroll.

Not exactly sure where to place Gyan in all of this, though I do rate him highly. Give him time to settle in and I think next season he could be bagging a lot more goals.
Ghana were my 2nd team at the world cup. Actually, probably first team as as per usual I lacked great faith in England...which proved correct ha. Gutted when they lost against Uruguay, they were robbed I was ****ing angry.

Chuffed he's come to the Prem, just a shame he chose the wrong team! Haha ;)

Carrol's a more complete striker than Bent, but if you asked somebody who they'd rather have, Asamoah Gyan, Ghana's star striker who fired them further in the World Cup then they have ever been, or Andy Carrol, a loose cannon who is unproven in the Premiership, I know who I'd choose!

Gyan £30 million and 3 Jammy Dodgers.
Once we have a partner up front with him and start supplying the bullets, we will have a job holding onto him!

Carol £20 million and a Best Buy digestive.
I think Carol could be a top class striker, my worry with him would be injuries.
Tall gangly strikers like him are very susceptible too back and knee problems. (I would stick an extra 30p a week on his insurance policy just in case. )

Ghana are not a minor nation says turtle...
Just been checking but yep never won the world cup or come anywhere near but I suppose they are better than Spain, Brazil, England, Holland, Germany etc. They are at the moment an emerging African nation. Nothing more so dont get carried away.
IDIOT-- please don't resort to name calling it makes you sound a bit of a child especially when its not backed up. Never once did I criticise your new striker was just saying he's still fresh to the premier league as Carroll is. Bent on the other hand has proved he can score goals year in year out....FOOL !!!

Bent got 24 goals playing for a bottom seven side. It's up to the others - Gyan, Carroll, &co. - to prove they can do it. They haven't yet.

Sorry, I don't argue with the educationally subnormal.
