With a year left on his contract do you feel it is the right time to say goodbye to the long-serving left back? If so how much would be a good amount? And is Gibbs good enough to replace him? If not who would you like to see come in?
From the games Gibbs has played this season he doesn't look good enough yet. As for replacements I have never seen Contrao play before (apart from at the world cup) but i heard he is really good, anyone seen him?
If Clichy does leave we need a replacement, would say Baines but with City in for him aswell, that doesn't look likely!
I saw ã5.5m quoted for Clichy today. Imo he is worth double that, but with only 1 year on his contract he could leave for free next season. I think we will need to replace him if he does go. Gibbs is good, but not up to the required standard yet and what cover is there for him? Traore? We would be weak on the left side with no replacement. Baines would be a good choice for me, but if city are in for him, then we can forget it. They will pay twice over the odds and not even bat an eyelid about it.
The only other guy I have heard of that can play left back is Pedro Botelho....but having never seen him play have no idea how good he is! But he seems to be playing alot over in Spain so will have to keep an eye on him
haha you have a point about gibbs, would be nice for a defender to be able to defend. Hadn't thought about Enrique but thats a good shout! Not sure what other fans think about him?
Solid without looking spectacular is my verdict of Enrique. I guess I would be pretty underwhelmed if we signed him but he is probably better than Clichy. Hasn't stopped Eboue forging a perfectly successful career with us.
Enrique would be a good signing, it's hard to be a spectacular RB/LB anyway. I don't think Clichy is that bad anyway from what I have seen of him :/
Seeing as he's in the last year of his contract a realistic figure is between 5 and 10 million, unfortunately. As for who I'd like to see come in? Baines.
