After a few drinks in the pub with a mate last Saturday we got into the discussion about the going, and how much affect this has on a horses ability to provide its best possible run.

Imagine 3 horses, all trailblazers, all 5f specialists, all ridden by the same jockey in the same way in an individual time trial over 5f

(What im trying to say is that its as even as remotely possible)

    Horse 1 - mudlark , rated 100

    Horse 2 - good ground horse , rated 85

Horse 3 - firm ground lover (loves to hear his hoofs rattle!) , rated 70

The ground is like a road ,very firm!

Who would clock the quickest time?

I guess i may have made the OR too expansive, but we were trying to work out how much ground factors into a horse performance against its OR
