I read a report in the Mail recently which said that on the completion of the Gervinho deal, we'd have only £15m to spend on strengthening except we offload some players, with money made from the sales ploughed back into the squad. Considering our impressive financial results over the years with all the massive profits, that is incredibly disappointing for a big club. What makes it the more surprising is the fact that even after paying off our stadium debts faster than we ever dreamed boosted by impressive property dealings and drafting a budget which isn't reliant on Champions League qualification not to mention that Wenger is the only coach with a negative transfer net-spend over the past decade, we still find ourselves in such a fix. Are we treading troubled waters with our finances? Does anyone have a clue how much we really have to spend cos if we fail to acquire the right targets and keep the right players this transfer window, I fear this is the season we may drop out of the top 4. Take nothing for granted.
no one knows how much we have to spend. at the end of the season, the newpaper reports were from anything in between £20 million to £70 million.
The board have come out publicly in the last couple of seasons and said that they would sanction a deal for a £30m player if Wenger wanted to, so the money is there if we need it.
Can we spend some money on people with double or tri barrelled surnames so we can finally have our big name signings rather than our usual hard-to-pronounce ones?
Well what i think we will spend. 15m on gevinho 9m on samba 20m on hazard i really feel wenger will sign him thats 34m spent and we will get ateast this amount from selling these player Bentdner 10m Denilson 8m Clichy 5m Fabianski 3m Thats 27m we will proberly get more for them im sure that wengers got 7m somewhere loool and those signings would improve our squad
That means adding an extra 30 million to the debt, but realistically we could increase the debt by anything like 100 mil to buy more players, plus the fact we have 3 or 4 billionaires on the board who i'm sure wouldn't mind chuckin in 20 mil or so So anywhere up to 200 mil
Maths isn't your strong point then! Think Hazard would cost considerably more than £20m too. Add an extra £10m and you'd probably be closer to the mark. I'd be very surprised if we signed him but judging by the state of the Belgian players coming through the ranks it'd probably be pretty good. Don't really care either way for the other two players. Seen enough of Samba to be 'meh' at best about the prospect of getting him and Gervinho is someone I know little about. £15m is a lot for anyone though so he'd better be damned good. Personally I'd rather bite the bullet and chuff our money on a real quality CB. I think that'd send a great message to Nasri/Cesc and co that we mean business. Obviously we'd still need to strenthen DM/up front but that'd go a long way to appeasing me.
