If as has been reported we are in for Jay-Rod who will be leaving?
We have Sir Rickie, Billy S, Chung Lee, Lee B, Guly d-P and the odd youngster trying to make the grade.

Goals win games but players do need to be kept busy or they can lose their edge. Does this mean we release someone or will we now be playing in the Premier reserves league or whatever it is called?

Barnard is **** and will be sold/loaned out. So we have 4, most clubs have 4 strikers, apart from Everton.

I was thinking of him as well. I like the thought of JR joining as it will possibly enable us to give Rickie a break now and then.

Most "top" teams have at least four, we now have two centre forwards and two smaller inside forwards with Barnard either surplus to requirement or sat in fifth place in case of an injury crisis
Guly is a midfielder who can fill in up front if required

I agree with you in the fact Guly is more of a midfielder but I rate him as being better up front than Barnard. I also feel that if we buy a couple of midfielders Guly could be on his way as well.

Geoff Boycott would take you to task as the suggestion of giving Rickie a break now and then. The context being that someone had the temerity to suggest that we change the bowling attack for the third and final test against the Windies. He almost exploded with rage at the very thought of changing a winning team. If they do make changes then it should be to the one-day team. The moral - Rickie plays in every league game until circumstances dictate otherwise or someone proves themselves better than he is!!

We have 4 good strikers in Lee, Sharp, Sir Rickie, and Rodriguez (if he signs). I think we'll turn our attention to other positions (GK, CB, LM, CM etc) You can't say that our strike force is something to be worried about after all of the goals that we scored last season either!

Sharp will struggle in the Premier League I think.

Physically he will hold his own and be able to hold up the ball to bring others into play.

However he is a lump and most defenders will have him in their pocket for 90mins.

4 strikers is a good number for competiton and cover. Barnard is unlikely to feature and I'd rather see Guly in midfield.

    10. Play a team with 10 strikers and one goal keeper, with your mantra being "We'll score at least one more than you"

Lee looks to me to be able to play wide or 'off' of a target man be it RL or JR (surprised nobody has picked up on the initials). Sharp clearly has the ability to read the second ball in the box better than many,(this skill is transferable to any league as long as you can finish). If the reports are to be believed JR can also play off the main man or wide. Seems to me we would have a complementary set of strikers should JR sign.. Now a new right back, an attacking midfield player and pace on the right hand side and we might have a squad to compete.. COYR.

That's because our strikers consisted of Kitson, Benjani and Kanu <laugh> (and Maguire, who seemed alright)

Guly is too good to be on his way. There are twenty others ahead of him for the exit door.

We have four fantastic strikers in Lambert, Sharp, Lee and [hopefully] Rodriguez. Barnard isn't good enough and should be sold.
If we need extra cover after those four, Guly is more than capable of playing up top, and it would also be a good excuse to give young Sinclair a chance. No more signings necessary in that position.

Id love to see a 4-2-3-1 with jay rod up top, Lambert in the hole and lallana and lee as inside forwards. Mostly because i play that on football manager and it freakin owns :D

Barnard will be sold/loaned, and Guly isn't really a striker. Lambert, Sharp, Rodriguez and Lee will be fine.
