So, how many players will leave in the summer because Laurup has gone?

I think fans always tend to overestimate how many players will leave. I remember when Brendan left, many said we'd never attract another good manager and players would leave in droves. They also said we's be back in League One. Now I've heard some posters o here say similar things - we'll never attract a good manager or decent players. Perhaps they've forgotten we're in the PL, so of course we can attract a good manager and good players. Have some faith.

I think only 1 or 2 will leave because of Laudrup. But we'll get replacements. We also need to get rid of some of the under-performing players. Ash should go if we get a decent offer for him. Plenty of others need to go as well. Either they get their act together or we need to get rid of them.

No one this season obviously, but I can see 4 or 5 players leaving in the summer.

Why would players leave? Providing we don't go down, very few of them have screamed out as being worthy of transferring up.

Let's just hold on a sec.

    THIS.

I hope we keep Pablo + Michu. I can't see lots of bids coming in for them at this point anyway for the money we'd want especially for the later. AND Jordi Amat + POZ & Canas.

Chico can leave. Alvaro is leaving. \o/

Routledge , Amat , Pablo , De Guzman , Bony ,Michu , Poz, Canas, Chico and Vorm with an outside chance of Dyer testing the waters, and I'm totally serious

I'd only hope to keep Michu. Not bothered about Pablo leaving. Chico can go as well.

So, how many players will leave in the summer because Laurup has gone?

Because of laudrup then zero. Because of a better club with higher wages then who knows. they will have to be out of contract to go anywhere and it will be up to monk or whoever then on whether they will let them go. But because of laudrup being sacked then nobody...they are glad to see him go...<ok>

Are you serious? For those that only came for Laudrup, where would they go. If they don't follow Laudrup then they'll still be without him even if they leave.

If we get our act together for rest of season then most would be happy to stay. I suppose a lot depends on how we finish the season.

You just got an indication of what players think of us (without a figure like Laudrup leading us into next season) in the January window.
    Ngog and Emnes signed on.

    Remember before Laudrup?
    we could only attract Championship players on the wages we were offering;
Graham (who Dai and others neverz stopped slagging off),
    Lita,
Routledge (who was never even given a chance until Laudrup).

With Laudrup leaving in the summer guess where we did our shopping again.

Do you think anyone of the quality we need is going to join because they want to work under Monk or Graeme Jones?
Now this awful decision has been taken, the timing couldn't be worse...we need to secure someone else who has good contacts and can supply 3/4 first team quality players by the summer.

Problem is, who of that calibre would want to join us when we have just demonstrated that a flirtation with the relegation places was a good enough reason to sack someone as loyal as Michael Laudrup? (having delivered a trophy and European football!)
A club like Swansea is always going to be flirting with relegation at some point of a Premier League season.

You seem to forget that Laudrup was in charge when those two arrived, so you could just as easily say that's who Laudrup attracted. The reality is probably that Huw didn't want to spend much because he know a big bill for Laudrup was imminent. You are crazy if you think we won't be able to attract good players. We're a top club. One of the top 50 richest in the world! We're a Premier League club. We'll attract plenty as long as we stay up. Have some faith.

Every manager knows they will likely get sacked if they get results like ours. Top managers don't worry about such stuff, as they don't expect to be fighting relegation. If managers avoided teams that had sacked a manager when relegation was a possibility then they won't have many clubs to chose from.

A manager in any industry would get sacked with results and unrest like Laudrup gave us.

Look at Southampton. Doing great despite sacking a manager. Bet you thought they'd be relegated by now. How come they found a manager and players? What a complete mystery. Same for Sunderland and a host of others. Good managers love a challenge.

Add Shelvey to the list of players leaving - the real problem is that they will be replaced by surplus championship players or unexpensive PL players. Given to the clubs boards current level of ambition.
I am pretty sure Cardiff wil get atleast a drew in the weekend - and becoming more and more convinced that relegation will be a real issue...

Everyone knew Laudrup was off in the summer.

You are in dreamland if you think we're a big attraction to players.
Our wage structure is dictated by income and the possibility of relegation (our gates are low, our merchandise is low in comparison to teams playing at the same level...we started out with a poor infrastructure and have had to invest a significant proportion of the first 3 seasons Prem money to try and catch up).
We constantly get outbid by our rivals for players.

Also Swansea is a small provincial town. Most young men with lots of money want to live in metropolis' and have good quick access to an airport.
    Laudrup was the pull.

he never delivered a trophy. he was fortunate he inherited a sound club playing great football. He did not have a clue about our club or the players and certainly not our history of recent seasons as he did not know who emms was and that he scored an important goal for us...He did jack **** ... The time he actually took charge we went to pieces and look where he took us.....So dont give us that crap that he was responsible for us winning the cup ...he was there in name only before the cup final supposedly learning about the club and the players that we all know that he never made a good job of that...

Looks like we're headed for the Conference then. All our players will probably move to Leyton Orient so that they can be in the capital. LOL.

Jeez, what a pessimist you are.

Young players want good access to an airport. Where do you get these gems from?
