Given that you all have a distinct advantage over me in that you can actually attend matches whereas I cannot, just how many of last years staff would you like to see stay? I know this subject is partially covered in other threads but because we are now looking ahead to next season I would love to hear who you definitely want to stay. The opinions appear to be extremely divided on certain players (El-Abd for instance) with a few must signings thrown in for good measure which makes me wonder if we can ever get to the consistent plateau that is needed to sustain a concerted effort to get promotion in the next campaign. For years I have been hearing that we have failed in our attempts to bring in a certain type of player, whilst strengthening our weakest areas, and yet by definition we have never achieved that seemingly attainable status. Remember the midfield general that we were told we needed for so many years only to be underwhelmed by yet another player who could never fit that role. How does SC go about rebuilding City to a respectable level by mixing what we already have and adding the right ingredients to make us a contender, which must surely be the only goal, rather than accepting yet another rebuilding year or even worse. I hope in early August we can sit back in confidence and feel that all the pegs fit in the right places or, I for one, will be sorely disappointed. On a side note to the mods - how come I always have to go the system page to log in?
Elliot Baldock Pack Gillett Fielding Cunningham Kelly Burns Reid Williams Osbourne Personally I'm not that bothered about JET. I know that on his day he can be a match winner but for substantial periods of last season he was a disinterested looking passenger who drives fans mad. Whether that's what we need to achieve promotion, or at least a Play Off place, is very debatable for me but SC seems to want him to stay. If he does, then I hope he is used on a rotating basis.
Hi On the first two paragraphs I'll leave to others on the forum to reply. As regards to signing in, your computer should ask if you want the computer to remember password so say yes. Hope this helps
Baldock Elliott Pack JET Fielding Cunningham Kelly Burns Reid Williams Osbourne Wagstaff Flint Not all as first team players, but I would like to see some out and out wingers, another striker and good either up and coming Keeper to act as back to Fielding or perhaps someone to come in as number one. If we don't go for Elliott I would like to see someone of his ability come in, but I do believe either Pack or Kelly pushed forward could do that role, not as well yet but could grow into it. Pack has the better pass in him so probably him with Kelly behind snapping at their heals. Baldock played better with Patterson alongside him, it allowed him more space when we play with JET alongside Baldock it don't work as defenders crowd Baldock out.
THAT CERTAIN PLAYER, wouldn't he be filling a weak area? in this division I think the best way is to have a starting 11 ( a pool of say14 players) and each week 4 other players making up the subs. This allows for up to 3 ( defence, midfield, attack ) changes for home or away games, injuries , rotating etc. Might play patty baldock and Jet or perm 2 from 3 depending on game etc other subs could be 3/4 (goalie) who are back from injury shown good form in non first team games etc... ...basically same format like now but with more rigidity, gives the players time to work more together without fear of a bad moment ( opposed to bad game/s ) getting them dropped
Baldock Moloney Elliott ? Pack JET ? Fielding Cunningham Kelly Burns Reid Williams Osbourne Wagstaff Flint El Abd? Plus for me a big question mark on JET Add to this squad, Batten and Bishop from the first year pros. A goalkeeper, central defender, central midfield, striker and we have the basis for a top six squad.
Fielding, Maloney, Flint, Williams, Osbourne, Cunningham, Pack, W.Elliot, Kelly, Baldock, Someone to hold the ball up. El abd, Wagstaff, Bryan, Reid, JET, (to rotate with), Gk2 more players, not sure who possibly Gillet Loan out Batten and Burns for first half of season to get them match experience for inclusion in squad.
Thanks NTTDS, it worked but that is the first time I have asked the site to remember me and yet it always worked in the past when I didn't use that function. Always been very wary of telling sites to remember my password/user name but there you go! Thanks again.
My wording was a bit off the mark jgf2 and yes that "certain player" would be used to fill the gap with Cadbury's Snack.
