Actually play in a team? I've noticed a few people mention it since being on here.

I play in a local team, on the Left Wing, just in case anyone asks <ok>

I used to play in several teams Colo; right back, left back, centre back or centre midfield depending on which team and which stage of my career.

But I'm retired now what with being an old fart!

Yeah play in a local team, anywhere across midfield and up front if needs be. Think my stats this season will be played 22, started 3 :(

That's unlucky mate! I've only started 1 game this season, not been playing very long. 1 sub and 1 start so far, but the season here has finished, only 10 teams in the league :(

Football mad since I could stand.

Organised a game of football on my first day at school and always supplied the balls for our kick about.

Captained the school team from my first game at junior level to my last game at senior level.

Played for the works team after that but it was a bit of a waste of time. Eleven individuals just kicking and running around without any idea of positional play and passing.

I retired aged just 18 with injury, knees are fooked, still play the odd 5-a-side game. Could do the 100m in 13 seconds...

Was offered trials for most of the north-eastern teams but unfortunately had to decline...couldda, woulda, shoulda, BUGGER!!!

EDIT: forgot to mention, was used as a right/left winger or off a tall forward for flick ons...

Played sweeper a few times but only to counter the opposing teams lightening fast forwards!

Hindsight ........................... a great thing. Of course there wasn't the money in it in days gone by, poor old Jackie Milburn used to get changed on his way to the ground after doing a shift at the pit.

Dont play for a team myself, just the odd kickabout. My dad had a load of trials with professional clubs when he was younger though, Aston Villa the pick of them I think, but had to stop before he really got started when his dad died.

Yeah he used to manage them as well, but lack of facilities meant they could only get so high in terms of the league pyramid.

  17. Never actually played in a team, but developed an excellent nack for set pieces. Freekicks, corners ect I was pretty decent at delivering a good ball into the box or having a shot on goal, but i never went to a team and actually trained so i never learned to control the ball properly. I could spend hours taking freekicks, but in a game i'd be like.... um wtf do i now lol. :D
