If he turned down Swansea in the prem, what are the realistic odds of him coming here?

    http://talksport.com/football/exclu...nsea-job-ready-return-management-151211177417

He was with us 2 -3 years we got rid of him to Shrewsbury. Loved him when here but he's got no loyalty to us, never can I remember him loaning a player. And yet some still believe he will come here??

Sometimes you hope to be proved wrong, but I very much doubt it will be the case with this one sorry.

    Did well at Preston.
    Managerial career[edit]
    Preston North End[edit]
Moyes took over as Preston North End manager in January 1998, replacing Gary Peters as the club struggled in Division Two and were in danger of relegation. He had spent much of his playing career preparing for management, taking coaching badges at just 22 years of age and compiling notes on managers he had played under, their techniques and tactics.[9] Preston avoided relegation at the end of the 1997–98 season and reached the Division Two play-offs the following season, where they were beaten by Gillingham at the semi-final stage.
The following season, Moyes guided Preston to the Division Two title and a promotion to Division One. An even greater achievement perhaps was to steer Preston into the Division One play-offs the season after that, with largely the same squad. Preston lost 3–0 to Bolton Wanderers in the 2001 Football League First Division play-off Final, missing out on promotion to the Premier League. One month later, Moyes signed a new five-year contract with the club.[10] Towards the end of the following season, he left for Everton, to take over from fellow Scotsman Walter Smith in March 2002. Moyes took charge of Preston for 234 matches, of which his team won 113, drew 58 and lost 63.

I went to pretty much every home game and a lot of away's when Moyes, played for us.

You dismiss a player who was a bit of a cult hero here as if he was nothing which is frankly ridiculous.

He was absolutely not a poor player, you seem to be forget that we were playing in division 3 at the time so we didn't require Sergio Ramos or Vincent Kompany at the back. The other thing you are overlooking is that his predecessor was one Forbes Phillipson-Masters who was about as quick as an oil tanker and had a worse turning circle. What we did need was a solid, no nonsense, big uncompromising lump of a centre half who left it all on the pitch for us which is exactly what we got with him.

MOOOOSEEEE....!!! (as he was known) was a very popular player with the faithful and there is no doubt that he probably also remembers us very fondly having been a Wembley winner in front of 35,000 plus City fans in an era when 3rd and 4th division players could never even dream of going there.

I seem to recall that he left us very suddenly and I heard from a pretty reliable source that there were a few bookmakers involved requiring him to raise a sum of money urgently via a signing on fee (allegedly...!)

    - for our younger viewers, I believe a certain Sam Allerdyce was playing at the back for Bolton

I saw him at City and he always gave everything he could in each match.
And when I moved to Shrewsbury in 1987, I often watched him doing exactly the same for Town.
Nigel Pearson was also there at the same time and they formed a very good central defence pairing for a team then in the second tier of League football.

Gave his all for City. Honest, very hard working qualities which have seen him go onto good things after playing.

Thought he was very unfairly judged by United fans. He took over a sinking ship and had no budget. Van Gaal has spent much more and he is doing similarly.

Built a good continuous side at Everton, perhaps something we could aspire to.

Don't think he'll come here but you never know in football

I think if you read all other posters comments, it is YOU in the minority, and showing a slightly bad image when saying we see things differently.

I'm sure if this forum was around when Moyes was here you would be saying the same perhaps you can't remember back then we all thought God created Moyes on the 8th day.
