....how many more games do we need to throw away before Wenger finally realises that we need to buy a top CB?

Vermaelen is that top CB, Djourou has poor today but normally is very good.

Djourour had not lost a premiership game in over 2 years before today, he is good enough. I agree Clichy needs to go though, John O'Shea contributes more offensively than him.

You also need a CB or DCM who will bollock those around them if they switch off or make mistakes. None of your centre backs look like they would dare scream at Fabregas or Nasri if they weren't tracking back. Your current set up makes it too easy for players to switch off, thus creating gaps.

Song is a good player, but you hit the nail on the head about attitude. We are great when it all clicks and our football is flowing, probably the best aside from Barcelona. But where we fall down all to often is that it is too easy to knock us out of our stride.

Players loose concentration and don't have anyone to pull them back into the right frame of mind, we get nervous and then start making mistakes, which when it happens time after time like it has, leads to a lack of confidence and we almost expect to surrender the game.

I think as well as a CB and DM we need a defensive coach. Pat Rice is rumoured to be retiring at the end of this season, it would be a great opportunity to bring in someone like Tony Adams as a No2 and defensive coach.

I think Arsenal could use a CB and a CF but if there is apriority it is up front imo. I've seen Arsenal fans complain about United "loading the midfield" against the gooners more times than I can remember and yet, Arsenal have played 4-5-1 for the last 3 seasons. Not out of being defensive but because you don't have anyone outside Van Persie to scored the goals in that position. Wenger went for Chamakh, I wikied his French League stats and wasn't worried. It failed. Now is the time to really splash out on a top forward or unearth a gem as we did with Hernendez.

Defensively, if you can keep Vermaelen and Koscielny fit next season you'll have a good partnership BUT I don't think it's as good as Ferdinand - Vidic, Arsenal's midfield doesn't offer the same protection United's does and Vermaelen's fitness is questionable so I think you need another CB too (and lose Squilacci)

Is anyone else getting annoyed that almost every pundit seems to think it is obvious that what has been holding us back has been a lack of a player in one position, but they all can't seem to agree what that position is. Merson can **** off with always going on about needing a new keeper, he probably only saw Szczesny for the first time yesterday.

I think Merson's right, his a good goalkeeper but not good enough for you to progress.

IMO you should try to get a cash + Mascherano deal for Fabregas. He's a very good player, but he just doesn't want to be there, what kind of message does it send to the other players when the player who has publically admitted he doesn't want to be there gets the captaincy? If your captain isn't 100% committed then do you really expect all your other players to put their body on the line? Nope.

Plus if you got Mascherano he'd solve most of your problems because he'd cut out the counter attacks you suffer badly against. You also need a new centre half to partner Vermaelen (if he isn't crocked that is), Djourou is nothing special and Koscielny is a good player but too much of a weakling to play against the Stoke's and Bolton's of this world.

Oh, and you also need a new striker who's not injured 90% of the season, and a right winger.

He has never said he doesn't want to be here, look all you want but you will not find a quote which says that. Look at the games against tottenham and bolton and you will find that he was probably our most committed player so thats a load of bollocks too. Mascherano would be a great buy but I can't see him moving to us when he is doing so well at the moment.

Also Djourou is an outstanding CB, before yesterday he hadn't lost a premier league game in 2 years so I don't think we need another defender. I agree with you about needing a new top quality striker though, but not about needing a right winger.

If Fabregas does go, then Mascherano plus Pique would be a good deal

Are you denying that Fabregas wanted to move to Barca in the summer, he's been good the past couple of games I won't deny that but for me his overall standard has dropped this season and you've probably been better with Nasri in the hole rather than Fabregas.

He's only played 20 premier league games in the last 2 years, that's probably why.

On the right winger thing, I just don't think Walcott or Rosicky are good enough to win you anything, Walcott is inconsistent, while Rosicky is knackered after about 20 minutes of football, then gets injured for a bit.

No he was happy to do whatever, I don't feel like we are keeping a player against his will. I disagree with you that Nasri would be better in the hole too, Fabregas is our best player and whilst he hasn't been as good as last season that is to be expected given a lot of players who went to the WC haven't performed that well. He plays the passes no one else can and we are better off with him in the team than without him.

Probably not, but if Barca want him that badly then we should ****ing squeeze them for all they've got.

Anyone who can't see that Fabregas is the best player in our team is either blind or stupid
