I love watching Spurs play. Just wondering why you need so many? especially with Capoue coming as well. Thought it would have been better to buy another striker? or a new winger?

We have bought a striker, and a new winger this transfer window?

Defensive - Sandro, Capoue & Livermore

Box to Box - Paulinho & Dembele

    Attacking - Gylfi & Holtby

Likely to be sold - Huddlestone, Parker

Don't think I've missed any? Seems adequate cover as it looks like we will be playing with 3 centre mids next year in a 4-3-3 & we are in 4 competitions this year, and taking into account injuries etc.

If we sign another after Capoue I will be a little :confused::confused:

What I mean is that really.. those midfielders perhaps with the exception of Sigurdsson and Holtby are all going to want to start matches. Dem, Paulinho, Capoue, Sandro certainly all will. There isn't enough room.

    There is enough room.

Dembele - Sandro - Paulinho is likely to be our first choice midfield and Capoue will get his chance in all the cup games (league, FA and Europa) as well as filling in for any injuries.

Sandro still isn't fit and it looks like Capoue could well play centre back for us because Vertonghen, Dawson and Kaboul are all injured.

I agree, we do have a lot. I'm assuming Parker and Huddlestone will leave whilst Livermore may be playing centre back next season. That would leave us with Capoue(potentially), Sandro, Paulinho, Dembele, Holtby and Carroll(might go on loan) and that should give us 6 for 3 positions(if we go 433). Personally, whilst it's great to have strength, I think that's a bit stronger than we need.

As for wingers, I feel that's an area we're very strong in again. Lennon, Bale, Townsend, Chadli and Sigurdsson is a lot for 2 positions but it would be great to be able to rest both Lennon and Bale as they pick up injuries towards the end of the season every year so having a lot of flexibility there is very welcome.

Right back and centre back are where I'd like to see us strengthening as it stands. If Walker gets injured we're stuck with Naughton, who's not great and at centre back we're already struggling for numbers and the season hasn't even started yet!

I have a concern though, if this Capoue arrives the dynamics in training are going to change again, trying him out with only a week before the off. Its not ideal, this is quite a new look side so todays teamsheet should be interesting, will the first half team resemble whats in line for Palace?

Capoue is a decent signing. But yes it's a little bit odd with Sandro in there too. I wish we would have bought him instead .... actually .... anybody ... maybe Spuds are buying all the players so that we can't <yikes>

it's not though, Piskie. He's going to replacing Parker and probably Huddlestone too. No doubt we'll be chasing cup victory of some sort this year too, so we need back up for every position. Decent squad has always been our downfall in the past.

  12. How about this for a line-up?

    ------------Rose---------------

    Livermore---Capoue---THudd---Parker

    Lennon---Paulinho---Sandro----Chadli

    --------Dembele-----Bale------------

    I think that could work.

Would it really hurt you that much to write "Spurs"?

Hudd, Parker and possibly Livemore (Loan or Perm) are likely to be off soon, so we haven't got too much in my opinon.

Our main three will be Sandro, Paulinho, Dembele. Capoue will likely be the "number 1" back up, he'll be starting many of PL games anyway, of that I'm sure - especially in these first few weeks with Sandro only returning to game time today and the shortage at CB. Carroll, Sigurdsson and Holtby will then fill in when needed and start cup games, of those three, I think Sig will see the more game time due to his attacking prowess. Then you've got Bale, Chadli, Lennon and Townsend vying for the wide roles.

  15. We need at least one more CB and another striker, if we are serious about mounting a top 4 challenge.

We mounted a serious top 4 challenge last season without Soldado, Paulinho, Chadli and *Capoue... Surely our chances have improved now, especially while Arsenal haven't strengthened at all.

Arsenal are arguably slightly weaker, as they've only signed Sanogo and both Arshavin and Gervinho have gone.
Not exactly powerhouses of their squad, but they did both contribute goals and assists last season.

Wouldn't surprise me if we're done in the TW for buying. The CB issue looks temporary, so can't see us getting anyone in on that basis, the makeshift defence we've seen in friendlies may be well given a go but I did hear JV could well make the Palace game.

SoS - All four are Internationals, Capoue only has 5 caps but all recent ones, he'll want more games like the others, its WC year.

I just don't understand it. Arsenal fans must be fuming. If the rumours are correct then Wenger has known about the money he has to spend since January, infact I'm pretty sure Kroenke has been speaking about having a lot of money available fr4om around that time. Since now and then it seems to be that Arsene has drawn up a list of about 5 players. He got outbid for Higuain and Jovetic, Rooney was a no go from the start because of his wages and he apparently never even bid for Bernard. The only one left seems to be Suarez and he's apparently either unavailable or too expensive. I'm sorry but if you're trying to sign this one top player that you believe will transform your squad you should expect that you probably will have to pay more than you'd like to.

They've frittered 2 and a half months away already and so lost the advantage of having a new signing with a full preseason with his new squad, whilst everyone around them seems to be strengthening. Well everyone except United and that's probably the only saving grace for Wenger at the moment as it shows they're not the only ones finding it hard in this transfer window. United are the Premier League champions though so it's slightly different, they shouldn't be so concerned about starting the season with the same squad as Arsenal should be.

  20. Not so sure.

I can see our CB situation coming back to haunt us. Yeah, we'll bag a lot of goals, but we'll concede a lot, too.

At least Lloris will get some quality practice.
