    Better, not great, but better...

The number of quality crosses in the box today would have top strikers drooling but sadly, ours are lacking in confidence at the moment but even so, 9 times out of 10, we still would have got at LEAST 2 goals today...

We need a midfielder and a couple of decent defenders and most importantly, some leadership and organisation both on and off the pitch......

No way are we going down...

What's this I hear on 20man about S O'D being spotted in the stands making copious notes.
Loved the comment about Lansdown having loads of money but shopping at Aldi !

'We need a midfielder and a couple of decent defenders and most importantly, some leadership and organisation both on and off the pitch......'

Surely this was posted last May.

'No way are we going down...' ????????
We're bottom and our board are appointing either McInnes or Robins.

McInnes is a huge gamble, ok he MIGHT be decent but he's done it in a tin pot league. Robins again MIGHT be ok but in the position we find ourselves in we need a Dave Jones/Billy Davies type with the necessary experience. It costs real money but if we want to stay up that's the choice you take.
    WHY GAMBLE ???
Sorry just think our board have handled the whole appointment in a totally inept way.
Nothing but a bunch of amateurs.

ps - Is it true SL came back from Africa Friday and why the puppet dithering Sextone was able to give an update. If it is true we're being led right up the garden path.

If you'd have sold Maynard's Sports Mixtures to us for £7m or whatever we finally offered you could have brought in some of those players... oh well onwards and upwards

We are finding out the cost of some lousy managerial decisions over the last few years and now we are seeing the end result. Until someone has the balls to take this club by the throat and change our whole attitude nothing will change.

The new manager has to realise that he is faced with a massive task to motivate this lot and alter our course. Good luck to whoever takes the job and he will need whatever backing he thinks is necessary to change things.

I thought today we played well, kept the ball on the floor and the way we swapped Albert and Pitman around worked well.
Having Cisse back was good allowed Elliott to run off him.
I know we lost today but with some confidence we can get out of this.
Makes you wonder if SW had much say in the team before, but today was an massive improvement.
The only thing I struggled to work out was why did we not play Lewin as left back and Jordon in the middle he looked lost out on the left?

    Yep, word for word.

Spence looked very shaky and short of confidence. Stewart is great at winning the first ball, but when turned lacks pace. We have to remember this was the first game of the season for Cisse and Stewart. definitely better, shame about the result.

Good to see the boys fightback a little today. The biggest crime for our home games this season has been letting our heads drop when conceding. I think it's gonna be a while before we climb out of the mire but there were some encouraging signs today.

Why all of a sudden do you consider McInnes to be the right man that has top quailty MAN MANAGEMENT skills..
You have no idea what man managements skills he has......it's all guess work.

Guess what, I know a guy who manages one of the clubs at the downs that has all the great man managment skills........maybe he could do the job??
Until a week or so a go, you and I had never heard of him.......but all of a sudden, he's the man to sort this club out......That's as much bollox as your reaction to Redprints comments regarding Jones & Davies...

Having said all that.......with what is available, (which IMO is not great) the whole process has turned into a massive gamble with the position we find ourselves in.
IMO the board are at fault for this, as Keef should have gone towards the end of last season, if not before, to give the new person time to sort things out without being under such pressure.
I worry, that someone like McInnes that doesn't have the experience in this league will not have long to put things right before the fans will be calling for his head and saying it was the cheap option...

The board IMO better get this appointment right because it's down to them not having the balls to sort things out when it was required.

I don't disagree with the last bit of what you say one4 but I do disagree with your constant reference to him being out of his depth.

Having played under Walter Smith in front of 50,000 plus baying Glaswegians along side the likes of Van Bronhurst, McCoist, Laudrup, Reyna, Hendry, Kanchelskis, Richard Gough, Gennaro Gattuso, Amourso, Gascoigne, Steven, Hateley

you think he will be out of his depth in the English 2nd division..??!!!!!!

Do me a favour - using your own comparison, we are the downs league side in that respect...

However it seems that the fact that you haven't heard of him is really bothering you. If it makes you feel any better, I do remember him from the Rangers days...

If you want to see what the Saints fans think of him, go on this site and have a good read...

I have read before, and agreed he is doing a job there.........but I do worry that this is a different level and the level of expectation will be much higher.
I'm not saying he's the wrong man and if he is appointed and does well, I will be the first to say well done board..
I fear.... for him to be accepted, he will need to get fairly instant success, which will be another added pressure......will he be able to handle it?
You know and I know, we have to stay in this league for the sake of the future for this club......we can not be used as a guinea pig for some up and coming manager....We arn't Norwich, who maintained 24000 season tickets when they dropped down to league 1...Not so much of a gamble IMO taking on Lambert.. Our gates will drop to under 10k and I wouldn't be surpised if SL didn't disappear altogther.

The level of expectation will be high but if he comes here, he will have 34 games to;-

a). stop us going down this season
b). impose his style, character, desire and ethos
c). re-build us next year when we have close to 20 players out of contract

Thats the realistic expectation and if we start playing football again in the process, I will be happy

Some want Jones, interesting comment from Scotland (just for a unbiased view)

"I have seen his (Mcinnes) name mentioned on a Porstsmouth forum, where he is 14/1 but they seem to want to go for the perennial failure Dave Jones.

Of course its a "gamble" - none of us have crystal balls so we won't know what will happen but I am all for something new and I believe that the bloke has "winner" written all over him - people tend to follow men like that

    We will see...

    Absolutely spot on.

The reason for the mess we are in lies solely with the board and most of all SL. Don't give a toss about his money, business accumen and the empire he's made or anything else, the cold hard facts are that he has made some ****ing awful decisions over the last few years (appointing Sexstone being one of them aside from Tinnion, Coppell and Millen) and he is more responsible for the state we are in right now than anyone else. As history tells us, Chairmen and boards of directors at football clubs often know absolutely nothing about the sport as has been proved many times.

We need a total and ruthless bastard to come in as our manager and one who isn't afraid of prima donna players or the board. The decision to get rid of Millen was frankly years overdue (aside from being cheap I will NEVER understand why he was ever appointed) and I truly hope that there is time to turn this around now because if we are still bottom come Xmas I don't fancy our chances of surviving, and our problems are deeper and much more serious than someone applying a 'quick fix'. It literally needs a cull from the top to the bottom of the club.

It's still a big no to Dave Jones from me. Will happily accept McInness, Robins or whoever else picks up the poisoned chalice.

some interesting comments through this thread

A game whoever the manager was we should have won, even GJ or KM, AND PUBLISHING THE "STATS" from the BBC as has been pooh pooh 'd so many times before that they dont actually mean anything....paints even a blacker picture.....we are CRAP up front

ok CISSE PLAYED, apparently did reasonable, and Damain Stewart a surprise!!! but a good one

With so much going on if stats are to be believed why didnt Taylor get a quarter as the tother two seemed to be FAILURES

Stead on for Spence...KM ostracised for this manouvre....as I said before 10 mins left you are likely going to lose so was KM and SW right chasing a point at the risk of of losing another goal ?

I dont think we need to worry to much about defence and midfield at the mo JUST GET SOMEONE PLAYING WHO KNOWS WHERE THE OBJECT OF THE GAME IS
