Having such a good away backing last season I would expect that to only grow this season (bigger teams, better grounds etc) Last season I made around 10 games and will look to better those travels this season. How many are you looking to make?
Don't think better grounds attracts away fans. Think partly our away support has been so good in the past couple of years is the fact that fans are going to grounds they've never been to. Also, the ticket prices have been good value for money and many places has terracing as well. Looking at the Championship teams, most regular away fans have been to all those grounds a number of times. Plus, I expect £25 will be the average ticket cost, if not more.
I did quite a few away games, but have got season tickets for St Mary's this season, which may curtail the away games (keeping the wife happy). I will go to some of the midweek ones as I'm sure I'll just happen to be working away with work in those cities at the right time.
main reason i went to so many last year was we have never had so many clubs in close proximity = less petrol also tickets were cheaper so it was affordable to do them also. planning a few games this year hopefully.
It costs me so much to get to even a home game so 1 away for me if I'm lucky. Hopefully 3 home and 1 away this season, heading to Nottingham in January.
I live in Suffolk, so first game of the season is going to be the Ipswich one! Cant wait! I remember the 3-0 win there when we went down. Looking at the away games this season they are mostly all ooop norf except West Ham, Watford, Reading, Posh, Milwall, Palace. Suppose then there are midlands trips like Leicester, Brum, Forest, Coventry and Derby but they are all a bit of a hike!
There are plenty of southern away games: Brighton, pompey, palace, millwall, reading, Watford, west ham, Bristol city, posh and cardiff isn't miles away!
