I don't want to be in the same mould as the Gas sacking a manager every time we go on a bit of a bad run, but I'm not sure how Del can solve this one. Stuck with the same crap players week in week out playing them out of position and changing the formation every 30 minutes. I'd personally give him till about xmas/january time to see if he can find a few gems in the transfer market. games such as b'ham/charlton are extremely winnable and early 6 pointers, mciness should really inherit a "do or die" attitude for those games as it really could fare our season at such an early age

We stick with what we've got, was it just 14 games ago he had saved us from relegation, the man was our saviour,I refuse to hear such stupid talk as sacking him, mistakes yes, wrong decisions yes but his fundemental quality is there for all to see,he is a quality act,not a headline seeker,he is honest, makes no excuses and burns for our success..

14 games into the season,I simply just don't believe the doubters..

Me honestly, I give him 2 games if we lose both bollocks to he has potential and quality, no good manager would have a team with no win in 10 so yes 2 games where 4 points is a must, and I believe he will turn it around

A Kneejerk reaction could make matters worse, Del does deserve a bit more time but the board should prepare if things get out of hand.
Like I said last year, relegation should not be an option, action must be taken if Del continues to fail the job he has been put in to do.
It's what a good board does, I'm not confident that we have that kind of board.

I desperately want Del to make a success of it, but if this run continues he will be gone by Christmas.

That is the most ridiculous comment I've seen for a very long time........if we go down, that is not SUPER is it?
People that write or believe such rubbish is the reason this club will NEVER progress

Personally im a big fan of Del, but............ he seems to have lost the dressing room apart from Stead and Skuse nobody is busting a gut for Bristol City. His lack of experince at this level is showing in his tactical naiviety his refusal to change tactics and keep playing players out of position is killing this season and putting us in real danger of the drop. So what do we do? Sack him? NO!! not now, the only manager out there who could turn this bunch into promotion hopefulls is now at palace. Bring in an experinced number 2? Seems to make sense to me. Who? no idea but we need someone with experince at this level, experince in dealing with players at this level experince in dealing with the expectations of a club like City. I still believe Del will be a good manager i believe he will be succesfull but how long can we afford to wait for that to happen the answer is not much longer. We need change but i really believe we need to support and help Del boy be the manager we hope he can be, if that happens we will have a team delivering what we are praying for.

I think the board will bring in a DOF before they decide to sack Del, a lot don't like it but do you think Dougie Freedman is as good as he is without Lennie Lawrence behind him guiding him through the tough times? Young managers either have strong assistant managers or a DOF, maybe Harry might drive the 70 odd miles to help out? Some say Curbishley won't come here but at the moment he's not doing anything.

Let's get some help for Del this could be the answer.

If I was SL, I'd be on the phone to someone like Curbs offering him the job if Del doesn't turn it around in the next six weeks.......Just a thought Steve!

Ha, ha, thought my comment would get you going onefor....It's not a ridiculous comment at all, we need to stick with a manager like DM, sacking a manager every time we hit a bad patch is not the answer......if another manager comes in, do we sack him if the team lose 5 on the trot....we must stick with DM.

Anyhow if we really want any chance of success in Bristol...our two clubs should amalgamate....BRISTOL UNITED..its the only way forward, this has been said for 50 years or more, now's the time to do it...."watchout here comes onefor & probably his sidekick Redprintt!!"

Not strange comments at all Lan.....give the man time & I mean at least another couple of seasons, getting rid of a manager every season or so, is not the answer.....we live in a I WANT SOCIETY & I WANT IT NOW....Alan Dicks would not achieve the success he had if he managed City now, he would not have lasted five minutes today.

Well said BigJohnAtyeo; AD walked on a knife edge for at least the first four seasons he was here as we were rarely out of the relegation dogfight. If Harry Dolman had fired him, we would never have had those four seasons in the top League.
I don't want us to go down but we have to be brave. Sacking McInnes is not the route we should take.
I posted something on the Ashton Gate Mates which echoes the comments above by thephatone and ROD about a director of football or another senior coach with specific responsibility for defence and defensive midfield.
This could be the chink in Derek McInnes' armour especially as he, Doc and Jim McIntyre were midfielders.
It's how American football and Rugby Union have gone, yet in football generally we seem to have only all purpose coaches, keepers excepted, rather than specialists to cover each aspect of the game.

If I'm not mistaken but didn't McIntyre only stay until the end of last season. Strangely enough he joined at the time we started to put the 8 game run together. So perhaps there is the problem?
