Interesting and slightly worrying article! http://www.norwich.vitalfootball.co.uk/sitepage.asp?a=269806
I would be inclined to disagree with this article. Lambert knows what he wants, and right now he seems to be resolutely determined to get Norwich as an established as a Premiership team. I don't think he'll leave until this is done. When the inevitable happens, and the big boys are sniffing around, he wouldn't go unless the deal is absolutely right for him; he isn't going to tarnish his repuation by going to a club where he can't fulfil his ambitions (relative to the circumstances of the time).
Surprised to see this written, but having read through it, I have to hold my hand up and say it has certainly crossed my mind before today. It's one of those things that rarely gets mentioned amongst fans of clubs because of the "kiss of death" factor. But 'savvy monkey' of Vital Norwich has written about it, and he it is who will be lynched if it comes to pass anytime soon. I'm just the messenger boy http://www.norwich.vitalfootball.co.uk/sitepage.asp?a=269806
yep, didn't really agree with this article. none of us know what lambert is thinking with regards team selection every week so quite how anyone would know what he is thinking about with regards his future is beyond me! everybody is realistic - he will leave one day, but why talk it up? when the time comes we can deal with it then - it could be this summer but equally it could be in five years time. all i know is he stated in an interview that he wants to try and win a trophy with norwich. well, unless you count league one and a runners up trophy, he has yet to do that. i just think some fans worry too much... lets deal with it at a time when its likely to happen, not when we are doing really well and there are no offers on the table!!
It says nothing that we didn't already know Dave, just enjoy the ride while it lasts. I'm just glad I'm living through this great era for Norwich City Football Club. OTBC ... CTI ... ILWT
Excellent article and I guess we're all realists and know that one day, he will leave for 'pastures new'. I agree that he could very well go to a 'top 6' side and when that happens, I'm sure we'll all rejoice in the success that he has brought to Carrow Road after he was sat in the away dug-out for our 7-1 drubbing on that dark August day in 2009. I sincerely hope that when he is lured away by the promise of a 'big club' that his successor will be coming in to a club which is a 'fully fledged' member of the Premier League with the right mix of players who want to play football for the club and the fans - not to line their pockets with massive salaries. Sorry lads, but i just love the bit about "tarnishing his reputation", Wycombe? Colchester?, pass the Brillo. Good luck on Saturday.
I'd say his reputation at the moment, (again relative to what he has achieved in the time frame) has to be amongst the best in English Football.
I would guess trying to improve Wycombe and Colchester would be flogging a dead horse! He had to move to Norwich to be at a club capable of improvement!
I hate articles like this. There's nothing there that we haven't all thought about at one time or another. The difference being we don't write bloody articles about it. PS - Love how monarch always puts 'good luck saturday' after a typically caustic remark, good strategy!
I think there is a chance he will go to ba bigger club than us, just not yet. he still has got loads to prove as a manager before a top club will concider him imo. I honestly believe we will have him for a few more years yet! I think next year will be a year when he earns his money. when he has to improve norwich
Yes, he'll leave at some point, of course he will. What tends to be left off articles like this though, is the changing situation of NCFC. If (still a big if) we stay up this season, then the money available to him increases hugely. Couple that to a forward thinking supportive board, and a club moving very much in the right direction, and it becomes very clear that this isn't such a bad place to be.
he's in his first year in the top flight and we aren't even safe yet! honestly, no really big club can take a gamble (and it would be a gamble) on him just yet until he has proven himself a bit more. one or two may take a punt like villa or everton, but other than that we are a club where he is more than capable of doing well at, as he's currently proving. take his mentor o'neill for instance - how long was he at leicester before he felt moving was the right option? 5, 6 years? moving to a villa or an everton may mean he's at a bigger club but they both are similar to us in that they have little resources. he needs to keep making progress with norwich, a club which he has effectively built in his own image. then he can and will deserve his move to the upper echelons and we shall all applaud him for everything he has and is going to do for us
