OK, today I'll eat humble pie. I'm not the kind of guy who will disappear when evidence turns against me. As I've just said elsewhere, if we can sort out our away form, we'll be fine.
Don't hold your breath on that count VC, our home form, as with last season is going to be key. Anything on the travels will be a huge bonus
Please to keep a big slice of that pie in your fridge vietnam. Thai may have to ask you for some later on.
I hope I am wrong but in all the years I have seen City in the top flight, there have been just 3 seasons when we looked good playing away. The more I think about it, the more I am beginning to believe it is not just a CH thing. We have had many managers (or teams) that never delivered away from home. We got spoiled with Mike Walker and Dave Stringer. Not even the great John Bond managed even a half decent away record.
I don't think we can judge if things have changed until we play Palace or Stoke or someone like that. I fully expect us to do well against Spurs in a fortnight (with or without getting a result).
All round decent team performance today, nice to get our first win but it was only Southampton and we were at home. No disrespect but we should beat teams like this at home. We have much tougher tests to come in the coming weeks. Let's just hope that us doubters are going to be proved wrong. Nice to see Bassong back, Redmond was excellent taking into account his age and experience, IMO is our best buy over the summer. Wolfswinkel needs better service if he is to score goals and Snodgrass needs to work on those crosses, today they were a little wayward at times.
Sorry buddy but I can't subscribe to this. As mentioned elsewhere, Wanyama cost roughly 3 X what Fer cost and was kept largely anonymous this afternoon. On your proviso, we should have beaten 'newly promoted' Hull last weekend, but we all know that's not how it works. Based on pre-season spending, Saints might well have ideas about top 8-10, so this was a good - and very important win for us Every manager will tell you "there are no easy games in this division" so for me, today's a priceless three points in the bank
Saying we "should beat" people is veeeeeeery dangerous. You have to prepare equally for every game and three points from any game is gold dust basically. I agree Crystal Palace is technically a more winnable game than Man United but you have to take every game as it comes. Southampton played some alright stuff, they will be a good team but they need a bit more time with their players, as do we to be proper up and running.
Don't see how expecting to beat teams Southampton and Hull is dangerous. If you start to think you cannot be those around you, who will you beat? Yes, away games and playing against the big clubs are more difficult but you should still go with winning in mind. Simply psychology, if you go expecting to come away with little or nothing, then that is what you will get.
Dreadful stuff we should be winning games like this by 3 or more goals, c'mon Hootun sOrr it out! Bah!
Why the stupid comment? Just saying we should have a winning mentality. i suppose with comment like this you are trying to be one of the in crowd on here.
All games are difficult in this division no nailed on wins for anyone, just ask All the "big teams" that we have turned over in the past couple of seasons Maybe it's easier for us to raise our game and beat them than it is to grind out wins against packed well drilled defences of those around us Just enjoy being at the top table win lose or draw City til I die !
If you actually talk to, or even just listen to, our players or management team you will have no doubt at all that they believe every game, home and away, is winnable. They will also tell you that every game is losable, especially if you go into it with any illusion that it isn't. There is no problem with the psychology of the team or manager; the big problem is the psychology of some fans. It is they who will claim to respect the opposition and in the next sentence tell you we should expect to beat them as matter of course.
