He's asked for at least 10 games but I think he should get until Christmas personally.

10-12 games seems good to me. Would leave enough time for a new manager to come in and assess the squad before the January window.

    It depends:

If we do not win the next game.
    Fail to score, or
Lose, then he will be under immense pressure. It will be like a continuence of the end of last season. It is when you look at our results over competitive matches over the last 9 months that you see how poor the results have actually been.

    Of the wins:

    West ham - 3-1 final position 13
    Aston Villa - 1-0 final position 15
    Hull - 4-1 final position 16
    Crystal Palace - 1-0 final position 11
    Cardiff City - 3-0 final position 20

It shows how bad we really where last season second half.

Now if we do not win against CP then we will be up against Southampton. Most likely lose:
Then, Hull City at home. This then becomse for me his final game in charge if we lose.

From the next 8 fixtures, if we are expecting to better last season then the home games should be wins (Palace, Hull and Leicester) whereas we'd be expected to lose at home to Liverpool. In contrast, the aways (Stoke, Southampton, Swansea and Spurs) should yield no less than 4 points. If Pardew wants to be judged from the first 10 games then nothing less than 1+9+4 = 14 points will do. Given the way last season ended, I'd be tempted to make a judgement then. I'm not too sure Ashley will see that way mind.......

Posts like this make me smile. Pardew will have as long as he wants. As long as Ashley is here, Pardew will be. He's doing the best job with the resources available and won't complain about anything. He's Ashley's dream. There is no way on gods earth that Pardew will get the sack.

10 games and it shouldn't be anymore than that. If things haven't improved - the bullet has to go into his head. Infact f** the bullet, the whole clip needs to be empitied into him. Either that or some sort of trial by combat, preferably against a ravenous Wolf pack. If he can survive that he has my blessing to stay, at least until the end of the season.

Personally think he should have been sacked last season but he's still here unfortunately.

If we lose tonight, fail to beat Palace, Southampton and Hull then he deserves the vitriol that follows.

Will he get sacked? Not a chance. Will he resign? We can only live in hope.

It will be interesting to see what, if anything, Palace do about their managerial situation. You cannot tell me that they would not be interested in taking Pardew, and for me it gives him extra incentive to walk away.

The problem I have with the whole situation is that Pardew is more or less one game away from a toxic atmosphere. Lose to Gillingham tonight and the knives will be out. He cannot believe any differently. It will make Palace at home uncomfortable and at this stage of the season anyone can beat anybody else. Lose that one and the vast majority of the fans will be gone. The thing is he needs to have a steady and consistent season just to keep people off his back. As a chairman, that's a nightmare scenario in that your manager has a constant vote of no confidence from the fans. I am optimistic that the investment over the summer is enough of a statement of intent from the owner, and that any continuation of last season will see him removed.

I also see something of a Mexican stand-off happening. Ashley has made mistakes, plenty of them, but has also acknowledged them and attempted to rectify when it's been commercially acceptable to do so (Joe Kinnear). Manager's typically prefer to be sacked, as they get the old constructive dismissal pay-off. Depending on the contract, Ashley isn't going to waste money sacking a manager. It's all down to whether Pardew wants to have to cower in a dug-out every week, whether he feels that's worth it in trying to call Ashley's bluff. I think he'll resign, personally. Ashley will be happy enough for him to squirm safe in the knowledge that this squad could be managed by a house plant and still stay up. It's whether Pardew thinks it wise to become disgraced or not.

I think if we're not strongly contesting the top 8/9 positions in the next 10-12 games, then that should be him gone.

Even Ashley wont put up with 37m investment wasted on bottom half of the table ****. We need to be solidifying that 8th spot IMO.

With the money we've got in this calendar year, he's actually spent about £5m, that's a lot less than the money he'll have in through tv money. Pardew will still be there until probably the end of his contract, unless he does something so drastically wrong. Can't think of what that may be though.........

It's not really about number of games; we know what he's like already. The fact is, unless he screws up monumentally, he's not going anywhere.

Another terrible performance tonight. 270 mins and a Newcastle player has yet to score. P45due, you haven't got a clue.

This /\ /\....... the only way we will get rid of Pardew is if it seriously looks like we are going down. Then Ashley will ****e himself and get one of his other cronies in. Dennis Wise must still be at a loose end............!!

Well P45due is certainly off the Palace radar, Neil Warnock installed beating Steve Clarke.

    This <ok>

I don't think Pardew is a hideous manager, I'd say he'll probably be regarded as a "safe pair of hands" in hindsight, but he's got the personality of a total tit (that should have got him sacked on the principle of accumulation), and the football we're playing isn't as aesthetically pleasing, or as effective as it was just 3 seasons ago, which is always going to frustrate the fans.

Let's be a little sympathetic though. He's not given anywhere near enough playing-staff depth to compete fairly with those around us. Hull have basically gazumped us this year, and we've spent loads by our standards <laugh>, and overall if you look at spending figures and wage constraints for the last five years, we're operating one of, if not the shrewdest business model of all the premier league clubs. Sure, his tactics are usually defensive, timid, and the only cure for Charles N'Zogbia ;), but he does take on board criticism and tries to change things, however slowly. Look at Van Gaal and Villas Boas, as examples of arrogant foreign managers coming in and just expecting their tactics to work, so we could theoretically do worse. Being fair, when Pardew does leave, if Ashley is still here, we will do worse. We're not going to suddenly hire a world-class coach and play expansive football.

I think the fans that have not renewed have made the right protest. Anybody who has renewed season tickets and still goes to games, I think you have to support the manager, in my opinion.

Pards seems to be praising obertan and claims he can win back the crowd. I know managers have to big up players but he can't seriously believe or expect the fans to believe such a pile of bollocks?

I've no sympathy for pardew; he knew what he was signing on for once he swallowed the black satanic jism of ashley while getting his **** pushed in by llambias.
