How on earth do you think we can make signings when 14,000 have cancelled season card payments? We will not be able to pay the players we already have..
Cant understand whats going on, still smarting over Robson being sacrificed without being given a chance, so no news is better than bad news at present. And don't we do panic buying, so well. '
I heard an interview from Parkinson saying he believed we would be able to look at championship players and even lower premier league players because of the current climate. To be honest, I think it will be championship reserve players and league 1 journeyman, following the same motto that's failed twice before. SD has moved us back 10 years in the space of 2.
Budgets are based on revenue of which we have very little. We're in for a tough season with a poor squad
We have way more than everyone else, teams get promoted from this league spending nothing up to 1 or 200k max. Our budget last season wasn't an issue, the players we brought in and the managers were
Yeah we’ve now dropped 14,000 season cards, halved the value of the kit deal and lost the parachute payments though. We also have maybe 3-4 times the running costs of any other club in the league.
True but at the same time our overheads are astronomical. You have to consider the out goings as well as incomings when setting a budget. Times 14000 cancelled season cards by 350 and clock the loss. Now bear in mind we know the academy costs 4m a year to run. Still think it gives us the edge on the competition? I'm not so sure.
Looking at who is coming down.... Charlton, Wigan and Hull...then look at who is still in League 1 Pompey, Peterborough, Oxford, Ipswich and there are always one or two surprise teams.....it really make me wonder if we are in this godforsaken league for a few years yet. We don't have the money to buy our way out, A lot of fans don't have confidence in the management team, the squad and have a total mistrust of the owners....Never has there been a time when supporting Sunderland has so depressing.
I’ve actually looked at that a different way, the 3 coming down all have serious financial handicaps and represented a best case scenario for us. Hull owners in middle of asset stripping. Wigan in administration. Charlton issues well documented. Barnsley or Luton coming down would have effectively filled a top 2 slot so I’m ok with these, the threat is real from the other clubs still in the league though, Peterborough, Oxford, Portsmouth and Ipswich. I’m not expecting promotion, I think that’s just setting myself for a fall. I’m ‘hopeful’ we might get a surprise.
