I was wondering what peoples thoughts on Evra are. He is turning 32 this season, how many more seasons do you feel he can continue to be our starting left back?

Who would you like to replace him? Are Buttner or Fabio good enough to become the starting LB in the future? If Fabio can match his brothers talents it would be fantastic and them two as full backs would be an awesome combination.

If you feel neither of them will be good enough, who would you want brought in?

Evra has been playing well recently but prior to that he had become a bit of a liability for a season and a half. He frequently lost his man or was caught out of position. He was actually going in the reverse direction of Rafael, picking up the bad habits that Rafael is gradually eradicating! I think from next season he won't be an automatic pick. From what I've seen of Buttner he is a long way short of being a top left back. I assume that Fabio was sent on loan to get first team experience instead of playing in the reserves or sitting on the bench at United, much like Cleverley during his various loan spells. Hopefully that will mean he'll be ready to take over from Evra with Buttner as his understudy. Fergie thought Fabio was good enough to start at right back, ahead of his brother, in the 2011 CL final.

Could have predicted a lot of I<3Fabio responses haha

Haven't really seen much of QPR this season so I don't know how he has been performing... I hope its a lot better than the rest of the team!

I like evra. Wouldn't want to go for a pint with him though.

I like buttner. I'd go for a pint with him.. We're lucky to have him.

Haha to be honest I don't think either Fabio or Buttner will make it as a future left back at United from what I've seen so far. I think we will buy a new left back in the summer who will play partly as understudy to Evra for 1 more year than take over his postion the year after.

Anybody in mind? We were heavily linked with Baines before but I think he's now 29? So he will likely only have 2 more seasons at his peak and I can't see that happenning anymore. Wouldn't say no though, I think he's the best left back in the prem atm

Not really. It would have been baines last summer but I have no idea now. The will probably be a new young lad around in a year or two like that lad from Southampton

I think Evra will be Giggs Mach II. He'll play til he's told he can't play anymore. I can only imagine Fabio was sent out in loan to get first team experience. He'll come back next year and get some games and then gradually force his way into the side like Cleverly did. Assuming he's good enough to displace Evra that is.

Fabio should be our captain now.

I think Buttner and Fabio are both easily good enough to be the backup left back. It will be interesting to see which one of them makes the step up to challenge Evra for #1 in the coming seasons.

My guess would be Fabio, he's had a few injury plagued seasons but his past experiences at United gives him a big advantage. The game time he is getting at QPR will stand him in good stead.

For us he would do a lot more attacking than defending, and I believe his defensive abilities will improve as Rafael's did.

Most importantly both left backs seem to have a good never-say-die attitude, which is the most important, they're both good going forward, so it's just up to the coaches to work on the defensive side.
