Having just read the article above, how much longer do you think the owners will give Pearson to sort the situation out?

He trots out the same old excuse: "People don't realise the difference in the quality at this level".

However, he acknowledges that we have good players, so perhaps he needs to look a bit closer to home when he bemoans the lack of quality.

I didn't notice much in the way of a lack of quality in the opening games which were arguably much harder than the recent ones against Palace, Newcastle, Burnley and WBA, where we've picked up 1 point and scored 2 goals.

He also says we are struggling to find fluency. Hardly surprising when he swaps the team every match and has been playing with no width to feed our main (only) striker.

The owners have ploughed in millions of their own money. The fans have waited 10 years for this season, having paid their hard earned following the team home and away in the meantime, and now it's all going down the toilet, and he has to shoulder most of the blame. The players haven't suddenly got worse. It's the manager that's picking the wrong team for the occasion.

When I listen to him post match, he reminds me a lot of Sven. There's the slow, measured thoughts that make him sound very cerebral. But I wonder if the speed of his speech is actually governed by the speed of his thinking.

I reckon he's got 4 matches at best to save his job. Those 4 include Sunderland, QPR and Villa. After that we will have played all the teams that we are competing with in the lower half of the table. If there's no improvement by then, then it's time for him to go.

    Thoughts?

No way we should sack him, that would be stupid. We need to get 3 players in in Jan (if pos), change our approach, sort the DEF out & start having more of a go at teams, especially at home.
I thought we´d be doing better at this stage of the season but always thought that we arn´t strong enough to become a prem regular. Bottom end we are abit away from having a mid table prem squad & that means a relegation scrap all season long & a lottery whether or not we´ll stay up. This is as the squad stands right now. We are missing up front & our DEF just ain´t up to the task.

    Wow.

What a difference a few weeks makes.

Just out of interest. If we were to sack Pearson, who would we get in to replace him?

    Would you take David Moyes?

He is currently considering a team 15th in La Liga <whistle>

Realistically ... we have now lost 4 on the bounce ... if we were to lose our next four as well I think he would come under severe pressure ... as it is I'm hoping that the international break will enable us to re-focus and come back refreshed and raring ... Upson might make a difference - his presence might encourage NP to go more adventurous going forward ... bloody hope so.

Can't stomach any more 'containment' appoach ... be brave, be strong and play without fear ...

Moyes did not become a bad manager overnight on inheriting Sir Alex's recycling bin ... but Everton fans are generally far happier with the brand of footie they are getting under Martinez ... so, on balance, I personally wouldn't be too enthralled with the prospect of having Moyes at the helm ...

Would sacking him be any more stupid than keeping him if we don't pick up decent points in those 4 games? It's all very well saying we need to get players in and change the approach, but are we likely to get in anybody who is better than we already have? And why hasn't the approach been changed already? It would help the defence enormously if Pearson picked a side that was capable of taking the game to the opposition and put their defence under pressure for a change. I wonder if it's the natural defender in him that shapes his approach. I don't recall him being big on flair at any time.

Ask The Birch if he still has Jimmy Bloomfield's number.

Yep, the MOST disappointing thing about the West Brom game was the way we set up.

Why not attack them, the way we attacked United etc?

    Boggles my mind...

If we had lost to Everton, Arsenal, Man U, Stoke and got results against the teams we lost against we people have accepted our start considering how hard it was?

For me ATM the major concern isn't losing its the fact we don't look like scoring in a month of Sunday's and the formation is a major reason for that

Against Sunderland I would revert back to what got us in the league in the first place

442 with Mahrez and Knockaert on the wings. Ulloa and Vardy up top and then the question is who starts in centre midfield. Our best performances have come with Dean Hammond playing so maybe have him sitting with Cambiasso giving the wide men lisence to get forward and having 2 men covering them which will allow De Laet and Schlupp to get forward aswell.

We can't set up with 4 centre midfielders again as we don't create anything

Look out lads....here comes the legendary "crumble".... <laugh>

as for the OP...O dear, the cracks really are starting to show.
Some of your supporters are starting to show the arrogance that many of ours did when we first came up. You need to accept that you will lose more than a few and get outplayed. You are, as are we, still a championship team in transition. Deal with it. You aint as good as you've kidded yourselves and this will be where your leaders stand up and be counted...or fade away.
Get behind your team and manager and back them...You are gonna lose many more this season, so you need to find another way out that doesnt include sacking the manager.

Good luck <ok>...As long as you fin below us of course...Cant wait for 29th ATM....

Queens there's two ways of losing, when we lost away at Chelsea early on it was by playing the right away and being outclassed. Atm we are losing without a fight and yes crumbling. If we played the right way and looked a threat etc and lost some of these games nobody would complain. Also losing the last 5 out of 6 (the other being a home draw with Burnley) is shocking as nobody would kid themselves to suggest we should have got 18 points from those games but we should have had more than 1...

Queenie - that is your most sensible post ever. Well done chap. It is a huge learning curve that our staff and players are going through. If we learn our lessons quickly, then I believe we will be fine. A lot of our supporters probably dont remember the struggles we had in the Prem, when we were there before and maybe had too high hopes for this season. This is also the first full season in the Prem for our manager, and he will learn a lot from it. Our owners are very patient, and I dont see NP going anywhere - certainly not at the moment. Avoiding relegation on goal difference would be a successful season. I am not downhearted - we are playing in the Premiership, and so far, have not been blown away by any other team. i honestly believe that if we had gone to Southampton and tried to attack them, we would have conceded at least 4. There will be a lot more results going against us that will create down hearted reaction for our fans, but patience is a virtue. If our key players find their form and the squad find their spirit and togetherness that we had last season, and of course we play the correct formation for each match, then as ed says, 'I believe' we will scrape through. Huge test for all promoted teams, we simply need to be up for the fight, take the blows, and win on points.

Seeing as you were going through this crumble a few weeks back, and your board were calling for 'Arry's head, you should know how it all feels

And now, you are where we were a few weeks ago, feeling sky-high after a few great performances, and feeling cheeky enough to rub the oppositions noses in it!

As I said, it's a rollercoaster, currently, you are on the up while we are nearing the bottom... Give it a few more weeks, things will turn again...

Dont hold your breath for that Jack......

Yep, its our turn to be smug ATM and there were many calling for Harrys head earlier on. I said publically I would back him for 13 games and make my decision after that. I didnt expect to see loads of points on the board or wins against City, Chelsea etc.
What i wanted to see was a team developing and moving forward to become a solid outfit. i wanted to see our players show they cared and give thier all every match. i wanted to se progression in our team and style of play. And finally i wanted results.
For me, we've started to show the correct attitude and effort in our games, and we've started developing some decent partnerships and understandings between some awesome players. No body can doubt the abilities of vargas and Isla, yun and even Austin. we're becoming a team and because of that I'lll back harry until the end of the season now, even if we do go down
I think some of your mob should maybe think along the same lines, and 17th for either one of us would be a massive achievement considering both teams last 10 years.

IMHO, you'd be stupid to sack NP now. He's given you a decnt start and you need to have a little faith and back him rather than get rid. Id hate to see either one of us get Pullis and can accept losing to a better side, as long as we give it our all.

Its the prem lads and its leathal..Lower your expectations to match your abilities and just pick your battles to stay up.

like i say, i hope you do stay up asI'll have n0-onre to have a laugh with if you go down... !!

I'm much happier that we are crumbling now, than crumbling last season and not even making it here <yikes>

Anyway, back to the topic... Sacking NP is not the answer... Please see "Newcastle" <ok>
