That should stop the delusion from Spurs fans that they are a big club. One season in the CL changes nothing. If they were a big club, they would be able to attract a top class manager.Harry Taxknapp is a lot of things,a top class manager is certainly not one of them.

I'd worry about Spurs if Modric goes. He is one of the best players and selling him would make Spurs a selling club, in my opinion. Daniel Levy would get as much money as possible for Modric and I'd suspect that it would get re-invested. Would Harry be able to invest it in the right places though?

    Time will tell.

That 22m bid was clearly a token to turn the player's head. If they get Modric wanting to come, they may well get a slightly knock down price. It didn't really work with Torres in January, because they left it too late and we were still able to command a massive fee.

Oh, while we're on Mordric, opta stats points out that Modric and Aquilani have the same number of PL assists since May 2010 - 6 each. £40m for Aquilani?

Another case of Cheski's bullying. Now Modric has said he wants to go he will go.MMMMmmmm who does that remind you of? lets hope it backfires as spectacually as that deal has (so far of course)
I think Modric is a really good player and Levy should hold out for as much as possible but reckon he will let him go for around 28-30 million.

I think you're right - it reeks of the business they did with Torres. £30m bid to make it look like they're interested, then reel him in for more.

If Harry had any brains he would stiff them in the same way he did United on Berbatov.£30 million for a striker that can't run..C'mon.

Agreed, he is so over rated. Statistically he is very poor. It is just spurs fans and the media exaggerating every good thing he does- same with Bale

Modric 15-18m at the most, he aint English so I don't get it, he has looked good on occasions and gone missing at times too, dead weight defensively and doesn't score or get a lot of assists, remind me why he's worth far more than 22m again?

Spurs already a selling club and when Modric goes VDV will not be long behind maybe and then bale and before you know it harry has done yet another club proud, can't ait for him to take the england job :)

I'm no Spurs fan, but when a player comes out with this rubbish it does annoy me. "Fans should realise its normal for a player to want to go to a bigger club".

Do these players do their research into rivalry and geography?

What a money grabbing, glory hunting bastard. Much like that other player.

Spurs fans should realise that players do want to play for bigger clubs. It however does show how small a club Spurs are when Chelsea themselves are a small club are bigger than them.Chelsea are a small club in Fulham.

I do not rate Modrick the asking price for him is bonkers
But if Chelski want to pay over the odds for a player as they have done in the past more fool them
Levy say's that he is not for sale, like mentioned above Abramovich will raise the offer 5-7mil£

You're probably right in regards to Abramovich just raising the offer.

The problem is that if Abramovich does that, Levy then accepts, what would happen to Levy? He's put out a bold statment saying he is not for sale and then he goes and sells him later in the window.

Wouldn't look too good for him.

    Money talks mate
Owners and managers do the same they are just holding out for the highest bid
Now if this back fires and the player is not happy at their club that creates the problem
A bad apple can spread the not happy disease to the rest of a team

But then you get players that say they want out and give the club their best season
