Benetiz buys Kuyt for chelsea Seriously though... the chavs want to be us so badly they buy any player of ours that ever scores against them, try to emulate our european nights by waving little plastics flags they have to give out in the stadium, bought a big flag after mebaressing themselves several times with small crap.... then they appoint benetiz who'll buy kuyt, gerrard, try to get sami hyppia.... tell you what rafa... while the chavs are apoplectic and saying you're not a chelsea manager and bleat on about their staturehow's about we sell you carragher and gerrard for 150mil and you put the old boys back together! Any predictions for how long benetiz will last with his latest owner... 6months? 4? 2? Talk about self destruction.
I sincerely hope he does well, even if it is a thinly veiled attempt at getting the best out of Torres. He deserves some good publicity from the English press for once, he was unnecessarily slated way too often with us. You do make a point though, will he have any say in transfers? If so I do wonder if it might help negotiations over Sturridge...
Rafa likes his 2 DM's so Mikel and Ramirez would be the obvious choice but Mikel is not that good imo so will rafa try a younger player in there with Ramirez?
Remember Benayoun is still a Chelsea player, loaned out. Rafa already has plenty of players to suit his ways. David Luiz doesnt stand a chance. --------------------Cech-------------- -Ivanovich---Cahill---Terry---Cole- ---------------Mikel----Ramirez------ ------Oscar-------Mata------Hazard- -------------------Torres-------------- Same as Di Mateo's team. If he even bids for Lucas I'll feel instant shame towards him.
Apart Mikel I agree. We know how Rafa loves to put players in different positions so maybe Luiz in there instead?
This was my thought as well - as long as he doesn't come in for Reina, Agger, Skrtel, Lucas or any of our main players. 5 years and the main spine of our team are all players he signed - and apparently his transfer record was terrible...
Rafa will convert Mata to a defensive mid and play Luiz at attacking wide right...people will criticise him as being clueless. But Torres would end up banging in 30 a season because of it, knowing Rafa! Love him, but it would pain me to see Roman and that twat Terry lifting any kind of silverware.
We all know Rafa likes to play fullbacks as wingers. Finnan, Riise, Aurelio and Kromkamp all had runs in the team n the wings (though Riise may actually be better there). Dossena played LW a few times to. Would be surprised if Aurelio did. I remember Mascerano at right back constantly running the ball out of play. Wouldnt be surprised to see Sturridge on RW every week. The real Chelsea team will be: -------------Cech---------------- ---Mikel--Cahill--Terry--Ivanovich- -----------Ruiz--Ramirez---------- --Sturridge---Mata------Cole------ -------------Torres--------------- and the team will never be the same 2 games in a row.
He's on a hiding to nothing there, as from day 1 the fans don't want him, I doubt very much if the players will warm to him, as he's a cold fish in that regard. He's got a history of falling out with clubs boards, so it doesn't exactly bode well does it? When you add to that, the fact that he's only got a contract until the end of the season, then the key players could just largely ignore him (see AVB for details) knowing that he'll be gone in May anyway. It's a mad appointment & I'm very surprised Benitez has taken it tbh, he must have very eager to get back into work, that's all I can say - as you can almost guarantee the fact that his CV won't look any better after this short stint at the Bridge.
He doesn't have to worry about what the fans think of him. He doesn't have to worry what the Board think of him. He ONLY has to worry about what Abramovich thinks. In the dressing room he has experience of dealing with bigger egos than exist at Chelsea. You really should think a little more!
Maybe he will go the same way as Hiddink. Rafa is better when just concentrating on getting results and coaching the team. He will be able to do that this season because he won't have to fight battles over future transfers/new contract/youth academy so he'll be sorted and will be able to concentrate on getting the best out of the players for a short term period. And the players thought AVB was going to be there for a long time, Di Matteo was the short term appointment, and they performed really well for him. Infact the last 3 managers appointed by Chelsea to guide them to the end of the season have all done very well (Avram Grant, Hiddink & Di Matteo). So Benitez does have a fighting chance of doing well, like all of them. I think they key for Benitez is that if he does well and gets offered the position full time, not to accept a full time post at Chelsea as its obvious anyone who goes to Chelsea full time will not succeed.
*Rubs index finger and thumb together for international sign for readies/cash/filthy lucre/dosh* To answer the OP's question I reckon around 8 months since that seems to be the average at the Bridge, save for notable exceptions (special one & Ancelotti), that also takes him up to the end of the season around May/June, that is of course on the proviso it doesn't all fall apart in the first month, not that anyone's hoping for that of course!
So you think it's a recipe for success there for him do you? Have YOU really thought about that? You think that the hardcore of Terry, Cole, Cech & Lampard will actively engage with Benitez given his man management style & their previous treatment of managers who didn't share THEIR beliefs in how the game should be played or how they felt they should be treated? On top of that, it's Benitez, a man who they came up against on many occasions a few years ago, a man who said a few things about Chelsea & I doubt was top of any of their Christmas card lists. The fans don't matter? really? So if they boo him on his opening game that will provide a great platform for success will it? Abramovich has binned off some of the Worlds best managers in the last 8 years, so I doubt he'll pause over the red button when it comes to Benitez.
