When will our rotund friend announce that it is patently obvious that Watford's foreign owners have an unfair advantage of signing players from Europe because they speak their lingo and munch garlic, olives etc! Will it be after our first win?
Let's wait and see what happens with West Ham first - if they start doing badly that's all he'll write about. Anyway, surely not even he would be stupid enough to use the "too many foreigners" angle in the premier League...
http://news.bwin.com/en/football-be...del-for-premier-league-survival-2,81133.html? I cannot read this in my work but I will try to get round the block. We are not allowed to see websites that are betting and a lot of other things also.
Yes it's the same here AK - quite how they expect their workforce to be well motivated when they can't even have a punt on the horses is beyond me
Well they like all of us should at least wait to see how these new players fit in and perform before judging them. Some of those QPR players were past their best or injured a bit. Your dammed if you don't buy anyone (Norwich) or dammed if you buy too many... No doubt at the end of last season such bookies were saying we had no Premier league quality players..
I must be honest, I thought our championship squad was better equipped for the PL than the championship yet it looks like very few will get in the 25. I will really get upset if we can't find a space for Ighalo due to the fact we buy cover for Deeney Hopefully over the first 3 games he proves he is essential to the squad.
I agree - I do have a feeling he may be one that could be sent the other way. I hope not. Still, whilst he clearly wants to play in the Premier league, Serie A or La liga are nice consolation prices!
A lot of bookies seem to be promoting bets for us to go down. Perhaps that is because they believe we won't.
Yes NZ - it's highly likely. Every year at the Cheltenham Festival the bookies offer money back on all bets if a supposed hot favourite wins. You would be amazed how often said favourite gets beat. They have started doing it on the football now. I do have a concern about the season though. On here you lot are all fairly level headed and I reckon virtually all of you think we will stay up. If that's the view on here the expectation level elsewhere will be through the roof. I hope people don't turn against the team too quickly if the start isn't what we hope for.
As much as I may think we're assembling a squad to win more than just matches if you offered 17th now, I'd take it and even sew up your shoulder. Given our previous experience in the division and the ridiculous effort we had to put in last season to get our just rewards I'm taking nothing for granted. What is reassuring is that our squad will have a strength in depth hitherto unseen at The Vic.
The first few home games will be a good test of where we are. If we really want to do well probably have to get a few points off WBA/Southampton/Swansea and Palace. Thing is none of those teams will be to face!
I'm a glass is empty and I may never be able to afford to refill it type of person so hopefully my pessimism is unfounded - and the optimism / mounting excitement on here is not only refreshing but also pretty bloomin' infectious!
Im well and truly on the fence at the moment (and getting splinters!!). Excited and nervous. No one knows whether the current strategy of throwing loads of new players at the squad will work, but we do know that the previous occasions when we introduced very few new players (and of dubious quality and experience) didnt work. For the first time since the take over I am concerned at the sheer number of foreign imports, but again when you look at the prices being quoted for home grown players, it is no surprise that this is the route the Pozzo's have taken. Mgut feeling is that we are going to surprise a few people, especially those that have only taken a superficial look at the club and I'm sure I will be reassured once the season kicks off. It doesnt help that the new season seems to have taken soooooooo long to arrive, and there's still two weeks to go.
I'm with most of you. I think we will surprise a few people and stay up (just) but of course we'd all take 17th now. What I have liked is that many of the new signings have said in interviews that the target is staying in the division-they know that would be an achievement in itself and for the first season, mission accomplished. We've got to remember, it's not like last season where we had to win virtually every game just to keep with the pace, we've just got to make sure that the gap between wins isn't too long (other than that Christmas run-I'm prepared for 0 from a possible 12 there!)
