Just wanted to get your thoughts on his all round play at the weekend. Will he get double figures for us this year?
I thought he was very good. He isn’t as “lazy” as I thought he would be and in certain situations the ball seemed to stick to his feet. Foster pulled off some great saves from him in the second half and he was unlucky not to get his hatrick. He also showed some great vision picking out players in potentially dangerous positions. My only concern is the lack of creativity we have in midfield at the moment which may limit his chances. I’m hoping the return of Ruiz will solve this though. I’d be very surprised if he didn’t get double figures… on what I seen so far I’m hoping it’s going to be 15+
Thought he was quite good. He didn't link up too much with Hugo but it was their first game. Goal was a class of curling the ball to the net. Think he will get to a double figure. Plus he looks hungry for first team football.
He's got to break the ten goal barrier, surely. And he has a point to prove as well, which can only be good.
He played better than I expected. I'm hoping that when Petric comes back they will have a good partnership. Again like most strikers it's good he's scored early for a new club, as it gives him confidence in his new team mates, to produce chances. Not sure if he will be as good away in games as a lone striker, and things don't go his way. Is Rodallega the right partner I'm not sure, it was more a Kacaniklic-Berbatov click on saturday, I'm hoping Ruiz could also be pushed up front to play just off Berbatov if needs be. One thing I noticed is Berbatov a few times he picked up a knock and was looking to the bench, but I think Jol wanted him to get in a full 90 minute game.
Well he's certainly brought us more media coverage than normal - doubt if we'd have been third on MOTD otherwise and we even got two paragraghs in the SubStandard (mind the Heading was "Odemwingie Regrets"). And all the players are singing his praises - the 'Ginger Iniesta' is the latest post on the Club site and Riether reckons it's "so much fun" to play with him. Whatever, there's a definite impresson that the dressing room from Jol down is happy and you know what they say ... Manobear summed him up really well in the other thread. Basically, he has that unique quality of making a few extra seconds for himself by reading the game so well. For me two things stood out on Saturday. First was the way he acknowledged Kaca for both goals. Second was, after he got that first goal, the way he bossed things up front; encouraging the young lad, telling players where to go and more. All done in the right manner - as one of the team. Of course he'll have off days and no doubt the odd pout but to answer the main question yes, he'll get into double figures.
