Fox fan here Just wonderting how good you really think St Ledger is? We are linked with him at the moment, it seems we need to match your asking price of £1m? You paid £225,000 from P'boro' in 2009?
St Ledger is a full international with wide experience. Probably worth about £1.5 million in today's market.
We want £1.5m but you've offered him less money than he is on with us. Decent player however loan spell at Boro affected his confidence prone to the odd error which usually results in a goal.
Evening your Lordship.. SSL was signed from Peterborough....see this link..... http://www.pnefc.net/page/ProfilesDetail/0,,10362~23654,00.html SSL was playing extremely well for PNE, well enough to become a regular playing for Ireland. He went on loan to Middlesbrough with an agreement that he would be transferred there when the transfer window opened. This transfer never materialised and the reasons are obscure, some saying that SSL could not settle there and others a change of Manager who did not want him at Borough. He was not the same player when he come back from Borough probably having become unsettled, however his form playing for Ireland did not suffer at all. Eventually his form started to return at PNE but was then injured and missed the run in to the end of last season. I would suggest that bearing in mind SSL is a regular international and still relatively young, he should be worth a minimum of £2m but PNE could settle for £1.5m. I dont doubt when fit as he probably now is, his form will return and whoever gets him will have a very good central defender. Incidently I believe the transfer fee agreed with Borough would have been about £4/5million. Hope this helps..
Mmmm mixed reactions I think I am looking forward to a player maybe arriving that is at a crossroads and needs to settle at a club for 5 or so years and dig in and be prepared to stay and become a consistant performer! Now I am unsure? Always had a soft spot for PNE as my surname is linked heavily to your former player who new my grandad. Montgomery's Eighth Army in Egypt and all that. Thanks for your responses and good look for a quick return, don't sit back, give your boys plenty of support next season!!
Ah!! well miLord, you are honoured in having THAT Surname and that is for sure, .... Hope that your team has a good season, with or without SSL.
He's one of the most overrated players I've ever seen. He's absolutely ****. He misses challenges, he misses headers, his reading of the game leaves a lot to be desired and he's a spoilt brat. The number of points he's cost his clubs is astounding, and he did it against us (Hull City) last year. How he ever played for Ireland I'll never know, but then, this is a country that also once had Paul McShane as captain for a match against Italy.
Tell it like it is Viking don't spare the punches, apparently terms have been agreed between the clubs £1.25m but this has come from the press in the Leicester area.
Not according to the Lancs evening post. http://www.lep.co.uk/sport/football/north_end_agree_fee_for_st_ledger_1_3541471
Hi! SouthLakes.. Hope you are keeping well etc, dont see much of you these days....hasn't been much to discuss so far during this close season. No surprise there then... Yep does seem like SSL is off to the Foxes, as expected I would add. Thought that we would get £1.5-2.0 million plus add ons but as usual for PNE we do like to help other clubs out. We need another central defender now as I don't see how we can rely on Morgan and the young lads. I have also seen mention today of Lonners being wanted by Grayson at Leeds....And Grayson says he will only pay a bargain price... Plenty of outgoings but the in-comings are a bit thin on the ground thus far. When we start playing the pre season friendlies PB's team selection is going to be very interesting. I await with baited breath....Have also heard that Turner is training with PNE.
