Yet another hat-trick for him today in the U21s (that's three in three games). Anybody watched him play? Will he make the grade with us?
Different position but I would say no better than Cairney or Cooper and they somehow didn't make the grade here. I can imagine Margetts playing for a mid to lower table Championship team. But who knows until he is tested at a meaningful level?
Hopefully next season we'll be using some of the kids in the pre season friendlies other than Winterton & Ferriby, if they do good then they should be included in match day squads, this is the only way they'll get a chance, worst case scenario they get loaned out to Championship or League 1 at the very least, any lower & it's not much use for us long term. Other clubs can do it despite spending millions on these foreign superstars, Kane & Mason @ Spurs, Sterling @ Liverpool, Wilson @ Utd, just to name a few, not to even begin mentioning Southampton. If we don't get any benefit from these kids then I find it difficult to see the point actually having an academy/youth set up. Surely the point of these kids is to actually have a chance of playing professional football, yet we just seem to keep them for 2-5 years then let them go with no one knowing what's happening with these kids.
